after some research i saw that smoking a joint is actually better for you than a bong...but to me it just doesnt add up.

i understand that with a bong you inhale more smoke, more deeply...but the smoke is cool and purified, (just look at the bong water to see what your lungs would have taken in without it).

with a joint and pipe, you are bound to inhale microparticles of weed debris, ash, ect... and the air is very hot and dry when our lungs function properly in a nice moist environment.

i use to smoke nothing but blunts and small pipes until i borrowed a bong from a friend. i fill it with ice and a little water to filter the smoke and it feels great. i do a little training (thai boxing and csw) and i swear i can tell a difference in lung capacity/stamina (for the better) after switching to a bong. i also dont wake up and cough anymore...

i am not saying i am correct beyond a shadow of a doubt, but i would just like to present my point of view and personal experience, and would like to find what others have to say about topic.

It would make more sense that a bong would be better for you since the water cleans out some of the shit you would be inhaling. You are right after you are done look at the water and see what you would have had in your lungs.

Funny story one of my friends will actually drink bong water after we are done smoking, I swear I have seen him do it I have no idea how he doesn't throw up but he actual can drink all of it. And I have a habit of not dumping the water when done so the water is usually really old and black. It is fucking funny when he actually drinks it though.

Bong's are better because they cool the air. The hot air temperature of smoke causes bullous lung damage. That's why some studies suggest weed is more dangerous when in fact you're just inhaling bigger clouds of hot air and holding it longer. Cooling the air with water helps prevent this heat damage.

Bongs are worse because water filters out more THC then carcinogens, meaning that smoke coming through the water is going to be just as dangerous (as far as carcinogens are concerned) but have less THC in it.

So to recap:
Bongs - cooler smoke - GOOD
- less THC to carcinogen ratio - BAD
