im a medic and the paramedics shouldnt have told you anything liek that since they are not doctors and they cant possibly know that info. in my opinion if he didnt die on scene than he will most likely pull through. they most likely gave him narcan an opiate receptor antagonist which reverses the effects of heroin. good luck with your cousin and your family.

there is a rapid detox program they now do under general anesthesia but if not he will be on methadone. heroin has a depressive effect on the respiratory system but once that is countered he should make it through. good luck again

Mixing xanax and an opiate is a very bad thing to do....For the withdraw they will put him on methadone. He will more than likely be on that for a very long time.

update his heart stopped again for the 3rd or 4th time i believe and he is now on a respirator.

the heroin high and cannabis high are so different. Heroin addicts can't trade the two highs straight across. Marijuana being legal would have made no difference in this case me thinks.

thanks everyone and anoter update. he will be going to a detox clinic and they took the respirator off at 5.am so now hes doing better. but i dont know much about adicttion so hopefully the detox clinic will get him straight.
