Default What are your most favourite and least favourite characteristics
I'm just stopping to have a toke break from housework today but was just wondering:

If you had to pick just ONE most favourite charater trait about people, what would it be?

Well I personally love to laugh so humour is right up there, you funny people know who you are, YOU ROCK MY WORLD!!!

Intelligence is attractive also. Its stimulating and I can learn so much from the smart ones BUT for me it has to be:

'Honest Integrity.' I think people who show honest integrity are usually respectful, sincere, open-minded and are more approachable.

It doesn't matter to me if someone is in a sh*tty mood. Everyone has bad days. At least they are not afraid to show who they really are. People with true integrity demonstrate it because their actions match up with their words.

My Least favourite characteristic is;

Arrogance!!! This just sums it all up for me because I think arrogant people are self-absorbed, self-righteous, narrow-minded, abnoxious and often, not always, disrespectful.
I find these people difficult to approach if I even want to.

I didn't start this thread as a gateway for personal attacks; just thoughts and opinions.

It's a beautiful day here. The suns shining and I am gonna go turn up some tunes and have as much fun being a 'domestic engineer' as I can.

YES pun intended!

It's interesting, to me, and I see this all the time, do it myself from time to time. Of course I have a theory about it, I'm just full of opinions, The politicians and lawyers did it. Why are honest and integrity both necessary to describe what you mean? Isn't a man of integrity honest by definition?
I think so by dictionary definition. The two groups I mentioned used to say they were honest, now they only say they are men of integrity. They are supposed to lie, its their job, so the don't say they are honest any more. Sad commentary, I hope someone is listening.
I can do arrogance, I can't do condescension. Its ok to have more than someone else has, its not ok to constantly point it out. Don't mistake my meekness for weakness. Kindness is contagious. And your post is thought provoking. VV

hey...awesome post. yea...i have thought about this too. regarding honesty and integrity....the definitions may be similar (though the one has to do with facts and the other has to do with values...at least in my mind), and their application is different in my view. I'm totally with you VV on the lawyer thing....though that might have to do with the fact that I just surfaced after a horrible three year divorce - and the lawyers won. but the qualities that are most important - I think my top is genuineness....no games, let's be real. thats what I get a kick from. the other side of the spectrum - least - has to be the opposite of genuineness - or posers - trying to be impressive in one capacity of another. Just be urself folks....it'll make you a happier person, and it'll make those around you more appreciative of your friendship.

I was going to just write integrity but then I have known some people with great intentions that are just full of bs, so thats where the honesty comes in.

I think everyone can come across as arrogant, I'm certainly guilty of it, but when it becomes a 'permanent' part of who you are as a person, then (I think)it becomes very unattractive. Thats all I meant.

It was more of a 'just wondering' (thought) thread than anything.

Thanks for your thoughts Victor

Hey Tahoe,
Yes you mentioned your divorce before. That must have been a tough one and (knock on wood) I hope I never have to go through anything like that.
I have had to deal with lawyers before and I personally don't know how they do it. They all just seem so snakish to me. Is that I word?

Yes i admire genuine people also.

If I can't laugh with a person, I don't want anything to do with them. Honesty is nice, but I only require it in people that I have a personal relationship with.

But what if you are going to go shopping or something; doesn't honestly count then?
your doctor, your insurance agent etc...
