Saw this on the news the other night. It mildly outraged me. How can it be legal under state law and be allowed to be open for 2+ years, yet the DEA still denies these legit patients of their medication? I thought state laws meant something. I guess not.

Federal over rides state, someone has to maintain the status quo...

Are you suprised they keep raiding medical dispensaries? Look at it from the dea's point of view.

compassion centers are low risk, high reward, easy targets.

-they always have lots of pot
-they always have lots of cash (sales of the aforementioned product)
-they don't resist during raids
-they make no attempt to hide from authorities (they are a business after all)

And because of all this, they boost the hell out of the dea's numbers. Which they then turn around and boast they confiscated $X billion dollars in cash and drugs; arrest Y amount people. Which they then tell the public and politicians Both A)They (DEA) are doing a great job and "winning" the war on drugs; AND B)there is a drug "epidemic" that merits a larger budget for the DEA.

I thought everyone already knew that state laws don't mean anything.

that pisses me off. WTF, they have a LEGAL shop and the DEA comes in and busts them for something LEGALLY... wtf???

well actually if you look at the law. (i've only looked at the prop 215 in cali) It doesn't say anything about it being legal, ONLY that given the certain circumstances (medical necessity), the state of california will not punish you for the possession/cultivation of marijuana or it's use.
