Im a tattooist, I took a look at your pics and I can tell you that all is not lost.
You dont have to go with a big black blob of a tattoo to cover that mess up. You will need a tattoo thats 2 to 3X the size of that to go with my ideas.
First thing is go somewhere that has talent, man you gotta shop around and do some research for shops in your area. DO NOT go back to whoever butchered you with those tattoos, they suck; flat out. They both look VERY amateurish at best.
Look around the net and see if you dig Japanese style tattoo images. If you do classic Japanese wind bars and or cloudwork could cover that up well enough.
Old school traditional American tattoo stuff is really bold and works well for coverups as well.
Good luck in whatever you decide, just PLEASE remember to do some research and find a good artist w/ a good reputation before you trust them w/ your skin.
