so there's this older friend of mine at work... she smokes if it matters.. her son just graduated the police academy and was awarded his badge and gun... (jurisdiction nowhere near my area) and she is throwing a surprise party for him and wants me and my buddy/co-worker to come cause she is proud as shit of "her baby"....

obviously, if we go, we wont be trying to smoke.. I just have a hard time stomaching the thought of hanging out with 25+ cops, many in uniform im sure, and getting hammered.... but at the same time, we both have the idea that it would be interesting.... like the great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson in fear and loathing... " If the pigs were gathering in Vegas, I felt the drug culture should be represented as well"...

what is your take on the situation? would you go get drunk with the cops, or take the other route and opt out, possibly hurting the woman's (your friend) feelings?
