that's an eternity knot. Why are you asking these questions here? This person is a tattoo artist, not an expert on Celtic mythology, lol.

Google "celtic eternity knot" if you want to know how they came about.

Or is it better to choose your artist first, and stick to one person?

I just know that if I was going through the effort of making an idea for someone, it might be offensive if I drew up some designs and then they took my designs to someone else for cheaper/better skill etc. So what is the proper way to find the right person for your tattoo? For example, when someone approaches you about an idea, do they like kind of interview you first and see if you're styles are what they are looking for?

Or is that just making a big deal of the whole thing? haha

Great question...best bet is to take your idea to some shops, look at their portfolios and talk w/ the artists...any artist worth a shit will have a portfolio of their work for you to see..

I dont start drawing until i have $ in hand, i learned the hard way. Spent 3 hours drawing for someone, they took the pic to get it tattooed by someone cheaper....LOL i still ended up tattooing him, just had to "fix" the crap his bargain basement tattooist did.

I wont touch someone if I smell alcohol....it opens the door for a lawsuit, a customer that wont stop moving or just a drunken pain in the ass.

you wont be able to get alot of detail in a small design...remember your body changes with age, as the ink settles in and your body changes you could end up with a blob of ink for a tattoo.

any decent artist knows what they can pull off, better to work with them to make your idea more "tattooable" and hold up over time.

Yes, there are different sized needles that serve different purposes.

I've been to a couple shops, when getting piercings, and I'll shoot the shit with them and I heard from a pretty good artist down here that if they drew it, you are not allowed to leave the store with it unless it's inked into your skin.
