Hello everyone...

So I am on a mini-Scandi tour where I am visiting my relatives and friends in Finland.

I stopped in Copenhagen, DE for 2 days and wandered over to Christiania to score some herb/hash.

Now, I have been to Amsterdam nearly 20 times in my life and have always been happy with the quality of herb there. I was actually surprised at the lack of quality despite bordering the Netherlands.

Now, at the stand in Christiania, they charged 100 DK ($20 US) for a bag of weed, ranging from 2 grams for some Danish strain that looked like schwag. They had some "hydro" haze... etc.

I got a baggie of white widow and buble crystal... the White Widow on the first day was tasty as well as the Bubble Crystal, which had not been cured enough to my liking.

However, the second day, I went back and got some hash (which all looked pretty good) and another sack of White Widow.

The herb was HORRID. Seemed wet, not properly cured. Most interestingly, it sparkled and left a hard ash.

I am now in Finland with my buddies, they have a bunch of herb which doesn't smell much and seems a bit wet, despite leaving out for 2 days... the same case of sparkling weed when it burns and leaves a hard ash.

They had heard of a bust in Finland where a guy had used hairspray to "keep weight", according to a confession to the cops.

Anybody heard anything like that?

What is really weird is that there is a heady "weed community" that grows pretty good herb but you have to be pretty close to the grower to get it.

The herb that is available on a more typically "black market/drug dealer" basis has this questionable smoking characteristic.

Basically, was wondering what could make it sparkle.

my budie here in the US smoked me up on some suspicous weed that looked like under cured beasters. it sparkled when hit and i wasnt diging the taste. i only hit it twice before i decided it was not to my likeing. i wonder what the deal could be, hairspray? i dont know. i said it seemed like some kind of wax or oil, but he didnt have anymore weed that wasnt packed in the pipe and half burnt so i couldnt investigate

I grow only tomatoes and for my personal use. Any inference otherwise from my posts is completely false.

All of Europe has been experiencing problems with fiberglass sprayed weed. It adds weight and makes the bud shine (feigning trichs). It's dangerous and nasty shit. I would only buy from legitimate places because there's a high chance it's been sprayed.

The reason your joint ash goes hard is due to excessive amounts of fertilsers within the weed itself. It is not, like many people think, due to the presence of glass dust. Glass melts at a temperature that is far higher than any joint cherry and as such could not possibly cuase the effects observed. However, having said this, glass dust in weed does occur and is a real danger due to the obvious health implications of inhaling hot particles of glass. A simple test is to chew a small piece of bud, if is sandy or gritty, take it back.
As for hard ash, when we buy weed in the UK it usually comes from unscrupuless and inexperienced mass-growers. The growth conditions are much the same as those of battery chickens and are they are fed many powerfull chemicals to force them to larger and faster. If the plants are not flushed with clean water for at least a week before harvest then a build up of these toxins remain in the plant. When smoked, these chemicals react with each other and the oxygen in the air and crystalise.
Needless to say, this isn't the heathiest smoke and you should try to find an experienced local,small-scale grower. or even try growing your own.

Anyone? Was hoping to figure this out... wanna get baked but am sketched out about smoking fiberglass or hairspray... LOL.

I have also heard that left over fertilizers in bud tend to give the "Crackle and pop" sounds and you can see sparkles when lit (like a piece of flint sparks). I live in Canada, and I have never heard of people weighing their dope down with fiberglass, nor do I ever want to hear about it or experience it..
