So I was just thinkin about putting together some type of pot themed video game for fun while I have some free time on my hands in the coming weeks.

It'd most likely be a 2D game of some sort, maybe an adventure or platformer type game, or even something top-down (one idea a friend had was "Duffle Bag Boy", a pot delivery game similar to the old "Paper Boy" games).

So I'm seeking ideas from fellow RIU users, what do you think would be a fun game? Story, characters, type of game, whatever.

Oh, and in case anybody was wondering, it's not going to be for commercial use, I'll most likely just post it up on my own personal site for free and give credits to anyone who helps inspire me.

have you played scarface, you should set up the plot like that. a hippy/stoner goes around town searching for a sack, when you get it you can either blaze or package it into dimes to sell. make sure theres a bunch of strieotypical stoner characters like the ones we all know. give him a dead end job he hates and make him work all week and wait till thursday till he gets paid. over the first week you can borrow money from someone but you have to smoke them up and pay them back. all the whole week before you get any money people are constantly asking you if you need any bud but you cant buy any. then on thursday, when he has money in hand he calls evryone under the sun and noone can get him bud. by the end of the game the main character could either drop off pounds and be a big time dealer or he can start cultivating his own plants. either scenario you need to avoid and deture the cops and dea

sounds like a realistic game plot to me

It's going to be a stand-alone game. I think I'm pretty set on 2D, so I'll be going with the Construct engine since it's free and open-source.

I like the way you have that laid out. I'll definitely keep that in mind. This is what I'm looking for people!

I definitely want to keep a certain level of humor and satire to the whole thing. Ultimately it'd be nice if people who didn't even smoke pot would enjoy playing it because of those traits, and of course, because it is FUN.
