I can grow pot somewhat proficiently. but tomatoes have become my nemisis. Recently I started in-doors, and moved my pathetic seedlings out side into planters with top- notch garden mix. They look like crap and I am losing my patience with this . Does anyone know any secrets for tomatoes and chile peppers? I would love to have both survive, but I seem to suck at growing food. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I always start twice as many from seed than I think I need because I always lose a lot. I basically do that with all the plants I start indoors to transplant outside. And tomatos always look like shit for a week or so after transplanting.

And when I direct sow the seeds then I plant a lot and thin them out when necessary

I started 50 seeds because I don't know any better and have had 8 survivors. Is this normal? And out of my 8. 6 look like they might go. I like that tomatoe seeds aren't priced the same way as weed, because I'd be broke

i use foxfarm for my tomatoes and they do insanely good

I pushed aside a couple of clones to grow tomatos. They grew up in my veg closet, and matured nicely . until they went outside. now they look like death.

WHat size pots are you useing, toamatos want a big one.

I built a 2x10, trough style planter. there should be more than enough room for roots

Ive had tomatoes growing in the ground out in the backyard for years now, just water every once in awhile, I never do anything else. And every year I get huge fat tomatoes.
