Not sure if it's been noted, but I installed one of those Haier window AC's yesterday, in my bud room, and am sad to say that, while this $98 unit seems to cool just fine, the entire housing is see-thru so it's not the unit for absolute darkness by a long run.
Hope this saves someone from my current situation.
Obviously you cannot simply cover it, becuz' of all the venting holes.

LMAO! That sucks hard man. I'm sure you could spray paint the faceplate black and that would probably help a little. You could probably work out some kind of cover or something to put over it when you turn out the lights. Good luck.
