Hi i just got a 1000 watt hps with a unattatched ballast.

I only have done 1 successful grow before and it was 6 plants under 400 watt hps self ballast with a couple of fans (no fancy exhuast stuff-low budget growing) and i got about a quarter pound ,about .25 grams per watt.

After that grow i tryed a couple other ones unsuccessfully but now im ready to flower 6 nice girls in 7 gallon pots under 1400 watt hps and im sure i can get at least .25 gram per watt so i should get about 12 and a half ounces hopefully .


All i really had used before to control my enviroment was some fans,i had a small fan blowing directly on the 400 watt hps with the built in ballast and then an oscalatting fan blowing air around the plants and even tho the temps got a little high it worked out allright.




Now that i have 1000 watt hps + 400 watt hps i really have to do something about heat(especially cuz the 400 watt has a built in ballast that make it hot in the area.


Im thinking i can have a fan blowing directly on each light(mounted on the wall blowing air directly onto the whole hood and everything and then 1 or 2 oscallating fans to keep stuff from getting fried.



Would i be safe to use a WINDOW AC UNIT in my little area without having the back of it going out a window or being vented any way?I would like to just get a cheap window ac unit and place it in the room but im not sure if it would over heat or someting or mess up the humidity.

heres the unit i want to get its just a cheap wall mart window ac unit 5000 btu can i get this and use it ?

AND IF I HAVE TO I COULD do what people normally do with window acs and have it set up in a window,would that work better?

also how much electricity would one of those suck up?

id be using like 12 hours a day straight through when the lights are on .

the only thing about using the window ac you have to have the exhaust blowing out a window or else your blowing more hot air out the back of it then cold air coming out the front so that might not be the best idea

ya for sure..window a/c's inside (non vented) make things real hot..may i suggest u should air cool ur hoods...like u said u didnt do much for venillation..but with 2 lights..i would be easy to creat an environment without a/c thats manageable..if u dont wanna do it..buy a portable a/c that has a 4'' vent u can tie in2 ur dryer with a Y or out a window......
