amp not coming out of protection
Amp is not coming out of protection...i hook it all up 2 days ago, it worked for 30 seconds than i turned the car off and arranged everything and put everything back together.....started car 10 minutes later....when for a 10 minute ride (worked fine).....got back in to come home, half way back it shut off and went into protection....after it sits a while it might come out of protection but if you turn the volume up alittle it will click and go back into protection....it last came out of protection last night....turned it up(went off)....ever since then it's been in protection (almost 24 hours). i just hooked up a Boss 3600 watts Max, and a Pioneer Premire 3500 watt max(1000 rms)....the amp has only one output on it for one sub....and the amp is 1 ohm stable....the sub is wired as 1 ohm.......anyways..... i hooked them up in a 06 equinox with the stock radio still in it(so i used a line out converter)...but the line out converter is only hooked up to one stock speaker because their is only one stock speaker in the far back. i hooked up the wires as said, but not sure if it's for 2 subs to be hooked up or not (cause i'm only hooking up one).....but the wires coming out of the line out converter are.... RED = hook up to 12+ on the amp Blue = hook up to remote wire control on the amp Green = hook up to + wire line on the car's stock first speaker Grey = hook up to + wire line on the cat's stock second speaker(which i just hooked up to same wire as green Grey w/ black stipe = hook up to - wire line on the car's stock first speaker Green w/ black stripe = hook up to - wire line on the car's stock second speaker (which i hook up to the same as grey w/ black stripe) Purple = hook up to green w/ black stripe (this one is just to get a 12+ volt for the remote turn on to work on amp) did this all.....hooked up rca cables to amp and other side to line out converter... power cable to battery and amp (w/ breaker) is good ground is good can anyone firgure this one out, or help, thanks |

Did you buy the amp brand new or used? Are both amps in protect? Did you multimeter your power and ground? When the car is running how many volts is your battery putting out? How do you have your amps grounded? The line output converter wouldn't cause this I don't think. It has to be your power or ground wire. What gauge power/ground are you using? How many subs are you running? Are they DVC (dual voice coil) or SVC (single voice coil)? Is it DVC 4 ohm or 2 ohm? SVC 8, 4 or 2 ohm?

no, my gain is lower than 50%
only one amp is hooked up but i did find out the problem last night, soon after i did this thread.....the ground connection was at a bad spot....i moved it to a different location and works great now....(this was actually my girls car)...and i have the same subs in my car (2 in mine, `1 in hers)....hers is louder than mine and everyone who has been in my car has said that it's the loudest they've heard.... i have a MTX 3000 watt max 1000 rms amp with 2 3000 watt max 1000 watt rms pioneer premier champion series subs she has a Boss 3600 watt max 1350 rms @ 4 ohm (they both(amp and sub) at 1 ohm though) with one 3500 watt max 1000 watt rms pioneer premier champion series sub |

I fucking knew it was the ground. Every time. Every fucking time. Make sure its fastened to an unpainted metal surface.
I personally run an entire Alpine setup. 2x Alpine Type R's each wired at 2 ohms 2x Alpine MRP-M450's each pumping out ~400 watts per sub. 1x Alpine MRP-F250 powering my door speakers 1x Alpine CDA-9857 in the dash 4x Alpine Type S 6.5's in the doors and rear deck 1x Clarion Eq-74 Equalizer in the dash 2x Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Capacitors Gives me a big fat boner every time I turn it up to 21.
