We're writing you today with good news from Springfield. Yesterday, the Senate Public Health Committee voted 6 to 3 in favor of Senate Bill 1381, which seeks to make Illinois the fourteenth state to legalize the physician-supervised use of medical cannabis.
This vote is a significant victory for medical marijuana patients in Illinois, and NORML would like to thank the several thousand of you that have called or e-mailed your state elected officials in favor of medical marijuana law reform. Senate Bill 1381 is now expected to go before the full Senate.
Passage of SB 1381, along with companion bill HB 2514 will ensure that authorized medical marijuana patients will no longer have to fear arrest or prosecution from state law enforcement. With your continued assistance we can make Illinois safe for medicinal cannabis patients.
