glass on glass bongs are always my prefered method of smoking..its cleaner, it tastes more "full" and they're so neat to own..

that bong you've posted in that link however for someone "new to bongs" as you've implied, will do you perfectly fine. My suggestion is to pick out two different style acrylic bongs, perhaps a "straight tube" and that "bubble base" you've already selected. this way you will be able to have a preference should you ever upgrade to glass on glass bongs.

i have a little purple acrylic similar to that. there is alot of hate for them and ill agree that they arent nearly as good as glass, but they arent too bad. the two biggest problems I have with acrylics:
1.SMELL. unlike glass, acrylic seems to absorb the smell of bongwater and is almost impossible to get rid of. that being said its pretty easy to mask. i just drop a couple drops of lemon juice in after i clean it.
2.metal bowl. most acrylic bongs will come with a metal bowl. having a metal bowl vs a glass one will be a negative aspect for taste. I personally cant stand smoking metal so i when i got my bong i got a downstem that fit in my grommet and replaced the metal with glass on glass(granted it still has 1 rubber grommet)

with all that said acrylics have two major advantages to glass on glass
1.price. i mean come on. you can get an acrylic bong for like 15 bucks. you cant beat that.
2. hard to break. i break alot of my glass and got my acrylic just so i would always have something to smoke out of.

i concur, i find acrylics are great for "throw bongs" and gift baskets.

by throw bong i mean one easily packed up and taken with, or left behind depending on the situation.

the easiest example would be a festival or concert...pick up a bong when you arrive. throw it out on the way out..

this one looks nice if you replaced it's bowl and stuff with a pull-carb. straight bongs are the shit because you can hit them way easier. bongs with a bulb act like it takes a whole extra lung to clear it, straight bongs you can double hit or even triple hit it if you have the lung capacity.
