Hey everyone,

I am really thinking about moving to Cali. However, I have no idea where to move to... I need some advice about where the nice, safe places to live are...
Also, How much do you all pay for rent? How hard is it to get a job like construction/laborer gigs? I have searched craigslist and haven't found anything promising.

I have been living out in the south east my whole life... I Need change. Especially because of my inability to use Medical marijuana... I have a girlfriend who is with me all the way, so I think we can afford it if we find jobs.

I have been thinking about Northern Cali... Like Eureka, or Sacramento... I am use to small town environment with plenty of outdoor recreation, and would like to find a school out there to further my education. Any advice would be helpful...

My uncle lives over by Eureka (Arcata) and it's a nice place. weather blows though.

I recommend heading farther south if you like sunny days.

Just stay away from the big cities if you want a safe place to live ...the city is where all the jobs are though....there are plenty of laborer jobs in los angeles, theyre always looking for a hard worker that can speak english too, well maybe not as many now considering the economic situation...if you live in the suburbs its pretty safe, but if you work in the city you better get used to traffic

I live in Eureka and the weather has gotten better over the years. I remember the days growing up when it seemed to rain all the time. The climate is temperate so not too hot nor is it too cold. If you are into the outdoor life then there is plenty of those activities to do. The rent here is actually pretty high considering the wages are on the lower end of the scale. The gas prices are the highest in the country consistently. I honestly could not tell you how hard it is to get a job as a laborer or construction but since it is a small community it is a matter of who you know and not what you know. There are two colleges here a community jr college called College of the Redwoods and a university called Humboldt State University. If you need to have some city getaways the Bay Area is about 5 hours away. In terms of crime it is relatively low but it does exist.

Thanks for the info... I really just have to get out of where i am at currently. I have had enough of the southeast. I'm pretty sure that i could get something going out there. The transition will be hard though... I'm going to be saving some money for a while. I make moonshine too is there a market for that in cali?

I'm from the Southeast too. I moved out to Cali for a year and then came back. It wasn't for me, at all. But, maybe you'll like it. Check out Chico. It's a city with low crime and a small town feel and the area around it is hilly. If u want to stay on a hill.
