Medical Marijuana: is it ethical?
I have an interesting thought about medical marijuana.
We all know that at least 80% of people out there with med cards get little to no medical benefit from their herb, they're just faking "insomnia" or "migraines" or whatever to get out of a possible possession charge down the road. However, we also know that the illegality of our beautiful sweet leaf is a total farce. Is it ethical to lie/cheat your way around an unjust law?

It's well known our fore fathers grew hemp and smoked pot. As a matter of historical fact it was a crime NOT to grow. Now sometime later a new set of rules come which generate a very substantial revenue for certain industries. For example, law enforcement, drug testing, drug masking, etc. I could go on.
Hmmm. So if the purpose of the restrictions on this natural growing phenomenon is revenue generation for certain industries, then I think we can safely consume and/or grow with no moral infraction.
KiloBit is a fictitious character from the comic WooHoo.....all pictures are CS2 creations with the intent of artistic expression..
dialog is fiction as well....
nope. i'd lie in heartbeat to get a medi card.
Is relief of insomnia not a medical relief???

I get medical cannabis and I'm not dying.
If any of you cared to read the law it simply says 'anything for which cannabis provides symptom relief for' and your doctor is the one who determines if it is effective in relieving symptoms.
Read california health and safety code 11362.5 or prop 215
I too would like to see what these statistics you're mentioning are based on... Also, whether or not a person is willing to defraud a system put into place for sick, and dying people is a matter of individual ethics.
Would you use your dead fathers name to cash his social security checks?
If you were undergoing cancer treatments and your selection of medical cannabis was slim, how would you feel?
The title of this thread should be: Medical marijuana: Is lying to get it ethical?
OF COURSE if you named the thread that, you would have already answered your question.
No, it's blatantly unethical.
Whatever a person has to do to alleviate worries of incarceration for simply growing or smoking this miracle herb seems reasonable to me. Just wait. I think we're gonna see a whole lot of seniors taking growing up as a wonderfully rewarding hobby, one that can give a person a reason to be. Period. Now what they gonna do with a zillion senior growers, legal or otherwise?
There are no stupid questions . . . some are just easier to answer.

AKA, it's not for people who's farts smell, breath smell, or sweat profusely, it's not for people who don't have symptoms which could be relieved by the use of it. I don't know what planet your from, but I don't generally go to see my doctor because I'm feeling too healthy.
Don't tell me to read any H&S codes, or Prop 215... I could write prop 215 in a bucket of water with invisible ink and a blindfold. In fact, I'll be bold enough to say that I probably know the laws and regulations a little bit better than you do.
Oh yes, and so you're aware. 11362.5 is prop 215.
