A month ago, here on RIU, I saw a thread of pics of males that are members here. There were dozens of pics. Man, was I shocked and surprised. Not a long-hair in the group, all about 20 to 30 years old, very straight conservative looking except for one or two, and all looked as normal as a group of men could look. I was definitley surprised and reminded how old and how different I am. In the 60s, 70s and early 80s, you could spot and identify a pot smoker by just the way he looked.

I want to grow my beard out too, but I'm considering joining the military.

I cant pay for school and due to specific events in my life cannot afford to go to school for what I want.
Apparently they offer to pay for most of my schooling, offer me a job while in and after, and I can go for
multiple degrees. Sadly my desire for knowledge surpasses my desire for beardedness... lol.
I'll grow my spirit beard, my heart will grow a beard with you in 'spirit' roseman if I ever end up actually
deciding to join them or not.

I am 58 years old, and I went to the Atlanta Pop Festival at age 20 in July 1970. I was a 240 lb redneck football player who often went to the races at that race track looking for a fight. I was blown away by seeing all those hippies, laying around screwing, smoking, running around naked. LOVE was what it was all about. I took my first LSD there, Timothy Leary was giving it away free off the back of a pick up truck. It was in liquid in a small one inch tall cup, in about 1/2 tablespoon of orange juice. I 'd never heard of Led Zepplin who played there, they did not have a album out yet. Smoked my fitrst joint and hash there too. 6 months later, I weighed 140 lbs. wore bell bottoms ONLY, went 13 years without a hair cut, was called a HEAD or FREAK and I dealt off Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta, walking down the sidewalk chanting "grass, hash, LSD" to every one I met. I did Conscientious Objector Counseling and was paid by the Federal Goverment to do it.

Was anyone else here, back there then? Let's share some old days and talk.

Led Zeppelins first album was released in 1969

My Mom was a big Hippie back in the day. She's 60 and I still love to hear her story about her first mushroom trip. She followed many bands around the country, but I'm too stoned to remember any of her stories. I'll try to get her to write them down and I'll share them with you Roseman.
My wife's dad is still a hippie and he a chemistry professor. He told us how he tripped on LSD and drove his bike thinking he was flying.

Man i wanna smoke a bowl with you or something. I wish i grew up in the 70's. I saw the Grateful Dead not to long ago, but without Good old Jerry of course, still really good. Im sure you have seen the Dead, one of my fav. songs is Sugaree.

Yep, you're right. Released in America in Jan 70, but the record stores did not have it then.

The Atlanta Pop Festival was 1969, not 70 as I said.

THE DEAD did alot of wierd covers at their concerts, country music, Elvis Presley, you never knew what they would play.

I did dead tour summer 94 and 95. I definitely miss Jerry. Still hard to believe he is gone. I am also a huge Phish fan. I've been to 30 dead shows and about 80 Phish shows.
