i shouldn't even have to convince you, CA is where its at. although i'm thinking of maybe Oregon after i graduate for the cheaper living, but the SUN and weather around here make this place the shit

i live in ann arbor and go to the university of michigan. the city is pretty f'in great, lotta old houses and some historic districts. the downtown area also has a good string of bars and shops etc. everyone is real laid back and chill since its a college town. no one is going to call the cops on you as long as you arent destroying anything pretty much.
also, smoking weed on anyone's (but the unversities) property is only a $20 civil infraction. also the arboretums and general look of the city is great. its a good mix of having a lot of nature, and then also you can walk into a more urban setting.
that being said, i do want to try other places out though. i hear real good things about boulder, CO. anyone live there or been to?
