Deer will eat the leaves, so will a variety of small mammals. Also bugs. Could be almost anything. Try getting a tomato net, or a bird net, you can find them on amazon. I can't tell straight off what the leaf problem is but look for deer tracks around the area. And, you can always pee around the outside of the cage. That takes care of a lot of animal problems. Has for me in my tomato garden.

spots on the leaves look like aphids rub your fingers under the leaves and if anything gritty comes off its egg/bugs aphids are extremely common and hard as hell to get rid of i use neem oil for all my bug issues, as for the missing leaves i dont think it would be deer if its only eating the bottom leaves deer would most likely eat from the top down due to the height of them unless its baby deer i would say most likely rabbits how to get rid of them in a non violent way idk lol good luck with that though :leaf:

In my outdoor plants the deer always go for the lower branches because they have the bud nodes on them and the deer seem to go for them first, idk why, but many a times I've found them leaving the top branches, probably to make sure not to kill the plant.

I use Neem- will apply again..

Anyone give me an estimate of what kind of yield I can get (my first year) rabbits or deer have significantly hurt the girls...

Check this out too, I use this on my tomato plants outdoors after something started mysteriously eating them and it stopped. Estimating yield, I'm really not sure, at this point focus on survival it will be hard for it to keep up the chloro missing that many leaves but if they pull through, you're probably gonna be looking at about 2/3, maybe more, what you would have gotten with it. Depending on strain, outdoor plants usually under good conditions yield around 200-600 grams per plant, with max I've seen at 6 pounds. Estimating yield is a complete crap shoot, being your first grow worry about yield when it's close to harvest. If there's a spot where it can drain well, dump a shitload of water and make some mud pools for a few days, then check for tracks. Depending on where you live, knowing what your enemy is would be huge.

I'm going to try the poop and pee - hopefully won't need the net(last resort) thank you for the link!!

It is so hard to get the 5-10 gallons the girls need - can't really do the track thing unfortunately :(

It's 100 plus everyday - so it would evaporate Sooooo quickly!
