Your CXA3590 Mission Should you Choose to Accept It !

So the mission Should you Choose to Accept it is .....Finding LED drivers that will work with this joker. 77 - 82 Volts 1200 mA is the Test Voltage and current of the chip..

Note: there;'re little chances that you'll find a quality/branded/certified/blah-blah... driver at that power range ,being cheap....
That's the -real- 'difficult' part ....

Yeah Star i for sure am going to go with quality and efficiency for this Chip since it will be used 12 hours a day 365 days a year for at least 5 years and hopefuly many more then that.

Meanwell still looking the best to me so far 93.5 efficient. It is way over kill though since it can put out over 185 watts. I would set it up to be dimmable maybe even add a LED amp gauge. It would also let you go up to 107 watts if you set the voltage to 77. I would more then likely run it @ 1.2 amps most of the time.

Good find Java! I had the pleasure to test a Meanwell HLG-185H-C1050A with CXA3070s. It reached 93.5% efficiency at 190vF. At 140vF it was 92.6%. At 100vF it was 89%. The 190vF is a hard limit so unfortunately I do not think we could run a pair of CXA3590s on the HLG-185H-C1400B (143vF max) we would need about 160vF.

Here is how it stacks up against the CXA3070 3000K Z4.

Looks like the HLG-C series does not have adjustable Voltage like the regular HLG series. So it was my bad thinking it would work. The stupid HLG series only goes up to 54 volts so back to the drawing board......:fire:

Well this is what cree has on there site. IT is a HLG -C series. Only problem i see is capping it from going over 88 volts. Setting 80k of resistance on the dimmer will make it not go over 80% Of the total 150 watts. So i think it would cap it @ 120 watts 85 or so volts.
 
You don't need to 'cap' it; it's a constant current driver. The LED will only take the voltage it needs dependent on its temperature at 1400 ma.

Why not go 3070 though? 3590 just doesn't seem worth it given the current pricing and lack of suitable drivers IMO.

Yes the 143V really is a hard limit, no headroom like with cheapo drivers, but you could make a string of 3590 + 3070.

The HLG-185H-C1400 is a very nice driver btw, I have the 'A version (with pot meter). It's just a few bucks more than the '120H for an extra 50W.

To make it worthwhile to order from newark I also ordered some c-14 sockets and cords. When i did my 3050,s i did the same thing. Was quite surprised on the cord They are the nice fat thick ones. I really should contact mouser and digikey ask them to stock up on some holders for these chips.

Here is the 3590 i slapped together today cranked all the way up (117watts). Not at all what it was supposed to be. All my lights were supposed to go in a fixture but after smoothly getting almost all the parts shit got totally fucked up the last two weeks. So next flower cycle it should be in it's proper home. Got two more cxa3050 2700k to slap together and then 28watts of 730nm I have to string up. So i will have the 3590 in the center one 3050 in each corner and one 730nm in the gaps , got 4 of them 7watts a chip. Back to work for me want to flip 12/12 on Sunday..
