With proper training techniques you can grow any plant in any space, I'm not sure where you are researching, but if you were told you are gonna get more yield per year on an auto strain I'd look to a different place, just not sure how that's gonna happen, autos were designed to be ran outside in cold weather climates, people run them indoors mostly do to space constraints, and some(like me) run them with photo period plants during the veg state, when the autos finish I flip to 12/12 on the rest of the tent, as far as yield there is heavyweight vast and fast 1&2, barneys critical rapido, think different, 60day wonder etc.etc. most seed vendors have search features that allow you to filter based on yield projections, but keep in mind these are only projections, all the research in the world can't beat actual experience, think of it this way, you could spend thousands of hours reading about how to ride a bike, but until you get on and start pedaling it's only research, not saying don't do it, just saying that yield figures from vendors are based on what experienced growers who have seen deficiencies and accesses, and pests and petulance, and know what to do immediately when they pop up, and how to avoid them get, they also use grow areas that they know well and have spent years dialing in, getting your setup just right takes time and tweaking. And it all starts with planting that first seed and waiting and reacting, don't worry about the end till you get to the beginning
I'll have to look into those other strains and see whether or not I can find them or order them in Canada...

The way I figure, if I am harvesting every 3 to 4 months with autoflowers, vs harvesting once every 5 to 6 months with different training techniques using photos than I am obviously going to get more out of the autoflowers, given the space I have at my disposal, let alone that I would be harvesting more regularly as WELL as getting more experience. Makes sense.

Some visual aids.

I have the same size tent as you. I flowered at 9 inches, topped and broke off a main branch, I LST'd it down. Ended up with 4 main branches. Here is what it looked like when I flowered her.

Here is what it looked like when I chopped it down, as you can see. Our beautiful plant of choice will fill any space you give it with the right conditions, yes 4 full plants will be crowded, 4 small clones might fit.

Is that one auto, and what was your yield? If it IS an auto, i was under the impression you are not supposed to top them or it is detrimental to flowering?
Thank you

not an Auto, more control of size with a 12/12 flower, Auto you are not suppose to top as you mentioned, which is the point, I topped mine, tied it down and it still grew to around 21-23 inches. Not much room, with 4, no room to tie over etc. if any get to big.

Well, my plan as of yet (I am a still doing a LOT of research and will continue to do so until my tent is fully assembled in around a month to a month and a half), is to try four autos and do my best to keep the space managed with scrog at earliest stages to avoid disrupting flowering. Not doing any topping or cropping.

...which is not to say I will not continue my research constantly :-P

I grow 3 autos at a time in a 3x3 space and it is too crammed in there. I'd say 4 in a smaller space is just going to give you stunted plants due to lack of light/room.
Do you mind my asking what your yield was and what you used for lighting?

Do you think I would be more likely to get a half to a pound from 2 in the tent versus 4 if properly trained and trimmed?

I am thinking that if one of them gets much too crowded, worst case scenario I take one or two out. In the best scenario, I will end up with 4 flowering plants...

Someone elses yield means little as far as what you will get. Sounds like you have big dreams and little true grasp of the reality at hand. You keep asking about yield, when your plan of 4 autos in 4 square feet is ridiculous. LMAO, Have you ever grown a cannabis plant through its entire grow cycle?

I grew 2 auto cheese pounders. 4oz and 3oz. 600watt HPS.

My current grow has 3 Trans Siberian in the tent and there is no room for more. If I properly trained them I could get a better yield. But deffo not fit any more in. You'll never get near your estimates in that sized tent.

Why do people who are working with small space think they need more plants to get more smoke. These plants will grow 14 ft. in the wild. You want 8 oz. from 4 sq. ft., quit playing with Auto's, learn how to SOG and LST. Come back in 6 months when you get all your stuff dialed in and get your 8 oz. from one plant, come back and post your grow. Until then you will do better to go try it.
Only answer we can give you, is no to 4 Autos in that space, too small and Autos are low yield on average to meet your 8 oz goal.

A nice thing about autos is you can use the same space to flower and veg since they dont require different light cycles. My plan is to harvest 3 plants every 5-6 weeks. My goal is 4zips every harvest but i dont think i will hit that using cfls. My first attempt was 2.75zips.

They may yield low on average compared to straight up seeds. But if done correctly, auto's can still do pretty well.
I'm expecting 4oz off each of my plants I'm growing atm.
The main colas on them are rediculous. But it's all down to light and space provdied imo.

Next grow is going to be a single feminised plant vegged for ages and scrogged to max out all space.
Going to continue it on my sig link in my journal.

I’ve got 4 photos going in a 4x2.5x6 with a 300w FSLED actual 128 with 5w diodes par value ranging around 800-750 they’re doing pretty well. Crowding is definitely going to become an issue when flower stretch starts

4 autos in a 2.7x2.7 next up is 9 auto's untopped to do SOG, how can he not grow 4 in a 2x2 if i got em in 15liter pots and still have more than enough space left?

I have done my harvest by now but this is the last photo of all of them in 1 photo.
I could barely fit 4 autos in a 4'x3'. Depending on methods they can be monsters. This guy was topped and took up about 3x3 of the tent. Coco in 3 gal pots.
