Guys I moved my light closer(150w hps) BC its getting cold and I'm not sure how close it should be any way no signs of heat stress as of now although I just did it. As of right now its sits exactly 8 3/4 inches from the tallest point on the plant I have plenty of fresh air rolling through and temps are dropping below 50 every night outside and some parts of the house (which is when I run my lights) and sticks around 77-80 around the tops of the plants.

150 watt hps? Your not going to bother it at 6-8 inches with 50f, but your going to miss out on coverage for your scrog.

Maybe purchase an additional light, get some daylight 65k 150 watt LED floods and stack a few around it, you wont have any issues with coverage or heat +/- issues. I run those LED floods as supplemental and the buds grow right on top of them sometimes (they get very leaf happy sitting on them so I know they are tossing out some decent day light spectrum's for the edges).

I'm buying a new set in about a month I'm looking at 2 options for the money I can spend one is a 5x5 vivoson tent, 1kw hps from sun system, and two 8in fans the other I'll post a pic of
You won't need anywhere near 1kW for a 5x5, especially with COB. Chip On Board LED. I get trichomes on seedlings with them.

lol, great minds.

Well barring that, you might want to think about enclosing them. I know it might stupid but in a large space like that you loose lots of heat from all the air in the room, just put up some card board or something to help retain the heat in. If things get really cold you can always invest in a brighter HPS, haha.

My heat stays pretty decent with adjusting my light but some nights is colder than other I usually range from 75-79 81 is rare but I adjust when I see that I usually check the room about every hour

I would beware the LED train, and I love them. There is no magic LED to replace a HPS currently, only the right tool for the right situations.
