they don't put enough to compensate you removing it all in r/o or distilled. His symptoms are clearly a ca/mag def.
WHY is it clearly a calmag deficiency
and which is it? calcium? or magnesium?

how can you tell?

cuz i'm with buddy here i ran ro in deep water and in soilless mix and never ever ever never have i pad for cal mag

Did he conveniently have a 50lb bag to sell you?

looks to me like you had a nitrogen deficiency (even fading to yellow in lower leaves followed by chlorosis) and the beginnings of a potassium deficiency(brown spotting on lower leaves with a piney/olive appearance to leaf color) that was corrected 2 res changes ago and - if anything - your current load may be a little high on nitrogen(deep green, nearly blue appearance in new growth concentrated toward the plant top)

also, nitrogen abundance would be antagonistic to calcium, causing the recent calcium deficiency evidenced by the brown tips of those otherwise very green leaves

get an ec meter and your problems will be solved
meanwhile, i'd back off the nutes by a milliliter or so of whatever has the nitrogen in it and watch my growth

do you know how difficult it is to convince a plant to become deficient in a micronute without some underlying cause? like by sheer usage of that mineral? - ime near impossible

seen cal/mag def. enough times to know what it looks like. I looked at his pics and knew he was using r/o or distilled. He never told me that. Red stems and brown spots are a clear symptom of a cal/mag def. N def. would cause yellowing of the whole plant and wouldn't have brown spots. also N def. doesn't cause red or purple stems, but a ca/mag def. sure does.

well i do have a question what would be the best kind of water to use then cal mag ill have to get from ebay as no local stores have it no hydro in boondocks can i use anything else till to comes as i dont really want to lose her as my other plants turned male :wall:

i seen on there about crushing up pills sorry just no garden centers open here till spring and hydro store 75 miles away

i have crushed up B vitamins to promote root growth before and i does help so your idea will work... as long as you crush them to dust(use a credit card like the drug addicts do)! crush your 100mg calcium pill and use only half of the powder... dissolve it in some water a cup of water then feed your plant that. and i guess crush 25 mg worth of Mg and put it in your special cup of water with the calcium too. viola homemade cal-mag!! dont snort the powder lolz

lol funny well guess thats me love to shop woohoooo lol :rolleyes:
well sounded good havent heard if it would work as i can use epsom for mag any ideas for calcium
