xeon Lights, HID headlights

I was wondering if I would be able use a few sets of HIDs (xeon lights) i have for my truck to us for veg, they are extremely bright and are 6000k and 8000k, they are also avaliable in lower color temps.

The bulbs are very compact and a car battery can run the 2 balast and 2 bulbs for over 2 hours which tells me they are not ard on power.

Any thoughts??

I have wondered the same question. I have a set I took off a previous car just sitting around that wouldn't be very hard to rig up for this kind of application. I guess if people are using LEDs these should work as well. These seem pretty damn bright but the spread of light on mine is pretty narrow since mine are "fog lights", might only be good enough for one or two small plants.

Here's some info I found at http://wikicars.org/en/Xenon_Headlights:

"Xenon headlamp bulbs produce between 2,800 and 3,000 lumens from 42 watts of electrical power"

66-72 lumens/watt
