Better than the worst case scenario...

Washington state Liquor Control Board members signaled today they will recommend to lawmakers that medical-marijuana patients be allowed to continue growing pot in their homes.

Board members would allow qualified patients, or designated providers, to grow up to six plants, three flowering and three non-flowering. A formal recommendation, expected at next week’s board meeting, would reverse a proposal by staff at three state departments — Health, Revenue and the Liquor Control Board (LCB) – to outlaw home growing.
That proposal was the most controversial of those made by the staff. In public comments about the proposals, keeping home grows was the most common request, made by 362 people. Advocates said home growing would provide patients with more affordable marijuana and rare strains, believed to have therapeutic qualities, that they might not find in dispensaries or new recreational retail stores.



At least we will still be controlling what we put into our lungs and not a profit centric system of questionable growers. Time to order some 10 gallon pots.

What it is it sounds like a compromise to me and pretty sensible one at that, well 6 plants only 3 veg kinda stinks. Would rather have 6 in any state I wanted but it's better than not being able to legally grow anymore.

Yeah, it seems reasonable but the 6 total is a bit restrictive I think. They site access to "rare strains" then don't allow a reasonable number of plants to maintain those rare strains. I know I will have to kill off/donate almost all the clones I have. Just choosing one or two to keep is going to be difficult. Breeding any "rare strains" will be nearly impossible.

The 3 in flower is probably partly just to reduce supply/competition for their 502 sales. I hope the final numbers will be more realistic than allowing 1/5 of the number previously allowed in flower.

Also, if they continue to allow growing for yourself and be a designated provider (12 plants total) it will be much more fair and reasonable.

Hey I got an idea, don't register and grow your 15! The cops wont bust your balls! How long have you been growing? Do you have filters? If you are only growing your limit even 30 you aren't going to attract any attention! Be smart fuck the greedy LCB I can't wait till these state stores and grows get robbed!!!!!! Or the straight up corruption! LOL they are employing a bunch of growers and smokers, and they think we will all just follow the rules?

Yeah, I have treated my grow as if it were illegal from the beginning. Filters working great, I started growing in 1996 but stopped for a long time, only recently got back to it. Back in the day I would have agreed with you, but I can't risk the consequences at this point.

It is corrupt no doubt, there were licenses being promised even before the application process began for 502 grows. When people get caught not following the rules the state will just use it as a reason to tighten the vise that much more and take away more rights etc.

I love how you can't be a provider! The person I provide for has terminal cancer, how is she going to grow for herself when she can barely shower herself? OH she can just go back to taking the pills that are killing her because she is on Medicaid and she can't afford to go from free medicine to $450 an oz from the state! Thanks LCB Greedy fucks! The growers and processors don't realize on top of taxes and other B.S. they will have to pay for all product testing and all product tracking

Let me know where you sell for 350 in Wa we getting 200 if we lucky.....so if you have 10 patients in 1 residence 60 plants

The WSLCB draft recommendation was to reduce usable cannabis to 3 oz (one week supply). That will have to change along with the outright ban on growing MMJ they also recommended... unless they expect us to grow our 3 plants in solo cups.

shit I can pull 2 ozs out of a plant in solo cups...but that would only give me 6 ozs...I need 2 a week

I502 just created another ruthless drug cartel. Eliminating the competition is the first thing on their to do list.

Anyone over 21 including medical patients can go into the Rec stores....but only patients can go into dispensaries

why even be a patient?? then we have mandatory registration with in the state system...they are going to tax it either way

I think 6 plants is pretty fair...but the 3 oz limit makes no sense. These are still recommendations that have to go to legislature and there are pro mmj people there. Hopefully some things get changed around. Just getting the LCB to reverse their stance on home growing is a very small victory...now write your representatives!! We need to negotiate this. I think 6 plants and 8ozs would be a realistic goal for us at this point....I'd love to have my regular 15 plants and 24 ozs but that isn't going to fly in legislature.

Even if all of those recommendations are put into effect I could find a way to make it work for me. I know people with serious medical conditions that need more than 3ozs...I hate to sound like a prick but I'm just glad that I can get by even if these recommendations stick in legislature.

I just got done emailing all three of my representatives too. Everybody needs to email or call them!! I got laughed at when I told people on other forums to write the LCB about home grows, but they actually listened to the patients and reversed their stance on the issue. It may not be perfect yet, but the only way to change it is to get word out to your reps. Cannabis may be important to all of us but I doubt they spend much time thinking about it! Educate them!

I would be pretty damn happy with 6 plants and 8 ounces. Even 6 plants and 6 ounces sounds a hell of a lot better than 3 ounces. You gotta figure 3 smallish indoor plants are going to yield around 2 ounces, maybe a little bit more...so 6-8 ounces only makes sense to me.

I really think that the LCB is trying to copy Colorado in a way. Look at their medical laws. 6 plants (3 flowering, 3 veg) and a 2 ounce limit. I don't hear many people from Colorado complaining....

Anyone who thinks the government should be able to limit how many plants you grow needs to get their head checked.
