Would this work????

Hi All!
I just finished my first plant and it was a Blast.
I ran an E n B setup but I need more height in my tent for my next plant so I was going to Try Hempy.

I have a large plant, a 135 day old Sativa Dom super Cropped plant and I need to start it as low as possible because height in my tent is 6', the plant Sits 20" tall with a nice flat canopy about 2' in dia.

For my tall girl I need to use a low wide container, 10 gallon rubbermaid is perfect to me.

Here is my bucket plan
To drill multiple 1/8" holes at 2 1/2" high on a Rubbermaid 10 gallon tote.
I figure 30 spaced evenly all the way around.

for a medium I was going to use the Hydroton that I used for my first plant, cleaned of course.

I can set the 10 gal tote in a small concrete pan to catch over flow.

I know hempy is supposed to be simple....

I never am I could complicate boiling water, lol.

I am thinking float switch and pump in catch pan, pumps out of tent to Reservoir and than a drip feed with a small pump from reservoir back to plant on a timer.

what do you. All think?

how do you stuff a big plant in a little tent??

should I just go the clone and flower route and stay Ebb n Flow or Flower the whole plant???

I have two more girls of the same strain same age still in my veg and I need room!
thats why I want to flower this plant whole.

thanks for any Advice !!

I just thought about it if I raise the resevoir I can skip the feeder pump and then I can make it a gravity drip feed!

DG,
I belieeve in creative experimentation...and well, that's what you're doing! Can't really call it a hempy.. Is the concrete tray just catchment and will be empty?

Sativas can sometimes stretch x3 while indicas 2x though supercropping may alter that. I actually don't have any firm advice at this point...but I'll think on it. But it seems like it should work.

OK...re-read and thought. So the plants will sip nutrients from the built-in res like a hempy. My only concern is that the 1/8" holes are too small and could clog up too easily. I would go at least 1/4" or maybe bigger on the holes. If you're only at 20" height now...you should be ok if they don't stretch too much. Are you loosing much height from light depth or does the 6' include that?

Hi JD,
thanks for the thoughts, the light hood is not included in the height, tent is 6' I can grow up to 5'.

I thought smaller holes would be better because of using Expanded clay pellets as a medium.

I can make the holes larger as needed.

the Rubbermaid is the hempy container, the concrete pan is just for overflow
and will hold three times the volume of the Rubbermaid container.

When 5 gallons builds up outside the Rubbermaid the float switch would kick
the pump on sending water up to res. which is outside of the tent and up 3' off the ground.

Then Gravity will return the water with a 1/8" soft tube feeding a 1/4" PVC home made drip ring to go around the stalk of my Bush.

would a semi continuous water stream be NG or OK?

The water flow down to the plant would be controlled by an inline valve.

thanks Again for the Input!

time to BONG OUT!

Hi DZ,
Thanks for the clarification...it's tequila for me today! lol

I don't see the need for continuous or semi-continuous top feedings. If anything, just a keep full system...or do it manually. That way you can make corrections to PPM or PH as needed.
