Worst president since Carter

How many people here were even alive when Carter was President? Doesn't anyone remember the Iran Hostage situation? That had a lot to do with Carter also, not just 3 mile long gas lines.

I think most of you are too young to remember what it was like under Carter.
He also had to deal with Three Mile Island......
Russian invasion into Afganistan.....
And Mt. St.Helen's.......

Somewhere on here a dude posted that Obama was the worst president since Carter. Anyone else find that statement to be ridiculous? Maybe I need to brush up on my Carter history, but I don't think he left much of a footprint on the country. He deregulated beer so that we could all brew our own, but other than that, are we still paying for the fuck up that Carter left us?

Now, I'm not arguing the guy was great. His presidency was plaqued with a crap economy, of course it was shitty when he got in there, and then shitty things happen while he was there, and I'm not sure his policies helped much. The comparison to Obama is not what I object to, the qualifier "worst". The implication being that the presidents who followed were better than Carter.

The guys who followed left us problems we still have today.

Reagan had a huge impact, the worst of which, at least to me, is cutting the fuck out of taxes and increasing spending. That deficit is still with us today.

Bush Sr...I don't know, having kids, I guess.

Clinton passed NAFTA and repealed Glass Steagall.

Bush ushered in a new era of authoritarianism.

Those things are still with us today and probably aren't going away. Given their impact, I'd much prefer Carter. The economy turned around shortly after he left office and we're not dealing with any horseshit he left behind.
Well this could be debated forever, but supposedly the reason the economy turned around shortly was due to the Reaganomics, tax cuts combined with increased government spending. I most certainly dont want to get into a debate about it. People have been debating it since Reagan left office as it is.

Yep, you got that dead on; that's their "logic."
You know damn well if that SEAL op went south and Americans died, they'd then be blaming Obama.

They are so full of hate for him he can't do anything right in their eyes. Dude could fire a million gallons of crude out of his ass and the far right would bitch that it wasn't refined.

And the far left is any different? In this thread someone already has said every problem in America is caused by Republicans.

I will have to admit that there was some intense animosity toward Bush from the left. I was a part of that. It has been 4 years and I no longer feel that disgust, however, I can't as yet see his legacy being anything other than misery for the U.S. as a whole.

While not every problem stems from Republicans, a hell of a lot of them do and they aren't making things any easier even now.

I feel more animosity now towards Bush that I did then.

As a politician, he's a moron. As a conservative, he's a moron squared.

Again we arrive at the same place beenthere. If the graph does not comport with your version of reality, then not only is the graph untrue but ALL graphs are. I challenge you to create a graph, based upon verifyable easily gotten figures from legitimate sources that show UB paid %75 percent in federal income taxes and is the nicest guy on RIU.

Your statment discounting information that you cannot accept or adjust to by using hyperbole gets you nowhere.

In fact, Ink The World's statement is shown to be true in your very post about it. Fact, logic and reason truely do not have meaning to the far right or they would not claim to be able to create reasonable graphs such as you state. And of course you don't have alternate or disputing figures of your own.

Clayton,

You never disappoint, I will admit I was wondering when you'd appear.

However with the fresh smell of facts and such I knew you'd be attracted, much like a vulcher. A self loathing mixed race biggotted vulture.

Forget about facts, Clayton is here to kick some knowledge.

If I had stock in lets say Best Buy, (picked it out of the blue as it is not doing good) Ok so I got the stock and today it hits an all time low. The board fires the CEO and hires Bill Smith, Bill is acomplished, Intelegent and means the best. He works for four years trying to piece the compnay back together but at the end of his 4 year contract the stock is no better, we have more debt and more dead weight getting checks in the mail week after week while doing nothing. Bill comes to the board meeting and tells us all that he needs another 5 Trillion or so but this time he has learned his lesson and things will be ok. Bill is a good guy, great family, great kids even has a cute dog. Nothing wrong with Bill, he kind of has a bad golf habbit but other than that he is a good guy.

Well guess what Bill, Love you but you got to go, my stock needs to come back I cant wait any longer.

Your analogy is missing something.

You forgot to say Bestbuy was on the verge of bankruptcy .
You forgot to say Besbuy was losing $ (jobs) every month at the pace of 700,000 a month
You forgot to say the previous CEO had saddled Bestbuy w/ 2 wars and tax cuts all unfunded

So now knowing all those things the new CEO has made the company profitable again and is growing the economy and you wanna fire him and hire the previous CEO's carbon copy. Brilliant decision

The gas lines happened when Nixon and Ford were in office, not Carter. Yeah, I remember Ike, too, but I was too young to pay attention. Kennedy was an excellent Prez, and then we suffered through Johnson and Nixon. Both of them fucked up a lot of stuff. When Ford took over, he wasn't much better, and mostly continued Nixon's bullshit. Then Carter was the smartest of our Presidents, so he tried to do intelligent stuff, but most of it was shot down by redneck Republicans. Then came Reagan, who was an idiot puppet, and the Republicans were taken over by the religious right, and that was followed by two idiot Bushes, and because of that our society is fucked.

The Republicans are the cause of our problems, and if you don't see that, you are not paying attention.

Intelligent? That has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard. Carter was a crazy son of a bitch. He thought alien killer bunnies were out to assassinate him. :dunce: He really fucked us by banning breeder reactors because they're too dangerous of a potential WMD, double :dunce: :dunce: So if you believe in global warming, he caused it! It's his fault we're so reliant on fossil fuel still. You have two choices, he was either an idiot or a total asshole who was paid off by Big Oil for his own greedy self. You pick.

Think of all the tiny pieces Mitt can turn Bestbuy into. Sucking every ounce of blood out of it before shipping the jobs overseas and shuttering the stores.

First, the U.S. is not a corporation because this isn't all about the bottom line.
Second, the corporation you are talking about has been under bad management for a long long time

But most of all, you are pretending that the board can go out and advertise for another CEO, review the prospective's credentials and work history and select from a vast array of correctional geniuses. In this case it is the guy we got or the guy with a shitty track record, a binary choice.

Now couple that with the board's determination that their only alternative for the position is misrepresenting the history of the company, he refuses to give us all of the paperwork we would like to have on his past performance and he also has failed to suggest a prospective plan for his turning this company around.

given that, the board would all be fools to fire they guy they have just because the quarterly earnings are not what the stock holders were dreaming of 4 years ago.

Here's one of your facts (lies) about Obama being the slowest spender in 60yrs.
Obama's lie was discredited the week he made the stupid ass claim!

The Obama campaign web page is cleverly worded to make it appear as if “independent fact checkers” support the claim that spending has grown slower under Obama than any president since Eisenhower. Fact checkers have certainly found fault with the claims made by the Romney campaign about Obama’s spending, but we have also all disputed the analysis touted by the Obama campaign.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. And while campaigns love to cite fact-checking organizations, that does not give them license to anoint a supportive columnist as a “fact checker.”
To have any credibility, the White House should be citing a real analysis by the Congressional Budget Office or career officials at the Office of Management and Budget — not an opinion article that had been found deficient by fact checkers and other analysts.

Clayton,
Simply awesome copy and paste job from an uncited source.

From reading the text it appears to be straight from the Romney campaign, is it?

Rather than simply saying "you are wrong, because I say you are wrong", how about some comparative numbers - how about a graph of your own, how about something other than nay saying and idle opinion from someone who repeatedly fails to address facts.

One would be wise to read the minutes, and see how the rest of the board voted on matters before axing the head.
If you have bad board members....
