I use a Pyrex teapot.

Butane from the extractor pour into the teapot,
evaporate butane from the teapot,
add ethanol to the teapot,
stir to dissolve BHO from walls,
put the teapot in the freezer.

Saves a lot of work and clean hands - no need to scrape, collect on parchment, to shift into a glass.

Although it is not possible to weigh the primary concrete.
You had me at "Pyrex teapot" ...... my mind was just blown....

Order yourself a simple distillation setup, you can get a whole kit for less than $100 on ebay

been using 99 iso and 190proof everclear..

everclear seems to work much faster. but the $$ is a bit steep, and availability = hard to come by in California.

I think distilling a favorite alcohol to use for winterizing might work well with the taste of end product..

Preferred by whom?
Your looking for a more polar solvent, how much so will alter the outcome. There are many solvents more polar than ethanol. You just need it to evap relatively quickly. A more polar solvent will drop out more, but hold less. Water would definitely be a poor choice..
As long as you watch for sugars and things, high proof liquor is alright

I could use a little help. I just started extracting and have a few questions. I did a batch the other day with 7 grams of bud and got back .8. but the oil was sticky and dark and crackled when it burnt. so i put it in the oven on the lowest setting and kept my eye on the temps and the bubbling. once it stopped I pulled it out and placed it in the freezer. it turned hard and brittle with a dark green transparent color. I build my extractor tube out of copper. I brew beer and have a means of cleaning it with pbw. I don't want to invest to much more money in this project and don't plan on buying a vacuum pump for purging. I plan on doing another 7 grams tonight and have been reading about winterization. Can i get good results using everclear so my second solvent? Also i purge before I mix my solvent or should I blast, mix wait 30mins, freeze 12hrs, filter and cook off everclear? The everclear they sell in my state is only 151. So I know there's a lot of water in it and I could end up with a more green product since chlorophyll is water.
Thanks for the info

i Just wanted to check with you bhp guys. Its my third or fourth time winterizing my bhp and I'm currently getting some bomb hash but I'm just not getting much when everything is all done and purged. I just got done blowing 30grams of trim and ended up with 1.5grams. Is this normal or am i losing some hash somewhere..... tHanks

hey guys,

nug run of 28 headband, cut up with a hand grinder which was fuckin annoying and i injured myself lol, but anyway it was really fluffy cuz it was somewhat fresher not bone dry like i usually let it get to. 4.8g ( 17.1% ) blasted, evap a bit, everclear, freezer around 36 hours, strain, evap all day, then came home, it was dry, gathered it, vac purged a few times with some flips, under 30 minutes total anyway.

right after gathering it up onto parchment

the filtered out shit

4.8g of headband absolute-shatter (.com) - it tastes like lemon!

goalie, did you notice it reacting when you had it In the vac? Basically did you vac purge it to get rid of any left over solvent, and if so, did you notice any escaping? Or did you vac it for that type of consistency?

Looks really tasty!
