Wow, I bought a laptop in early 2007 when Vista first came out, and I am still using it today !!!!

What have I missed out on with the newer Windows versions ? lol

Is it true some laptops have touch screens to go with the regular keyboards and touch pads ?

Windows 7 is awesome, it is everything that Vista was supposed to be. Windows 8 was a total fuckup. While it didn't suffer from as many bugs as Windows ME and Windows Vista, it has a terrible UI. It is an OS that they designed to work for PCs, Tablets, and smartphones. All the same OS. No surprise it turned out to be horseshit. I imagine having full blown windows on a tablet is pretty cool, but they should have made Windows 8 a mobile OS. I'm hoping Windows 9 will be strictly for PCs as far as the UI goes.

Windows 9 is everything windows 8 should have been. The windows 8 interface scared so many people although it was easy to navigate the majority of idiots could not figure it out. So Windows 9 will be easy for win7 and win8 users.

Can you link me to your information on Windows 9? There's not even a beta or preview out yet. I've heard rumors that the default PC UI in Windows 9 will be like a traditional "desktop" and that they are bringing back the start menu and that "metro" software will run in a window. As pleasing as this is to hear... this is how windows has always worked. Because they fucked up the UI in Windows 8, having a normal desktop in Windows 9 is now a "feature":lol:

I've seen either pc or tablets as I walked by them that had like a screen full of small boxes....I think the screen was blue in color ?

Is that one of the newer operating systems ? I know I found a phone once that was a "Windows" phone and had the same look to it....That is not something that I would care for on my laptop....I like having a nice wallpaper to look at along with individual icons that have a look all their own....The boxes are not for me....

Yeah thats the horrible user interface that Windows 8 uses. You're not alone in not liking the looks of it: If Windows 7 was still a widely available option on new desktops and laptops, no one would buy a computer that came with Windows 8.

I've downgraded a lot of laptops from Windows 8 to Windows 7 for friends and family with a legit pirated copy (after I confirmed that hardware drivers were available from the laptop manufacturer for Windows 7). I even warned them that doing so would void their hardware warranty. They didn't care. Having a usable computer system was more important to them.

What is a legit pirated copy? It's an image (*.iso file) of the Windows 7 installer that has a matching checksum to what MSDN has posted. This means that not even 1 bit of data has been altered and is exactly the same as what Microsoft released.
