Will 3 year old misdemeanor ticket for marijuana possession show up on a background check?

I got a misdemeanor ticket in california 3 years ago for marijuana possession. I only had to do 25 hours of community service, and the defense attorney told me it would not show up, but is this true? has anyone experienced this?

I would go down to the county clerk's office and see for yourself. I had 5 year old charges, that I was found not guilty of, showed up when I got my first good job after college. Turned out that the county I lived in was suppose to delete them and never did. The employer that ultimately gave me the job told me he almost didn't offer me the position due to the background check but since I was such an outstanding candidate that he figured it wasn't a defining moment in my life but rather an exception.

It really pissed me off though.

That always has be a bit paranoid. A charge at the age of 19 could hinder me getting a job nearly a decade afterwards.

Not likely , most of the common use backround checks are very innacurate

but it all depends on the type of check , Some go a hell of alot more indepth then others , the latest trend is to cross-reference with internet profiles .....

Many places will often only run a federal criminal backround check as it's usually the cheapest and will have the most serious crimes, Althow dont bank on that
