So many typos, hope they didn't make as many in their "propsal" or HC might can em right off the bat haha, knowing how picky they've gotten. Good luck!
 
Just skimmed the doc. Seems they use the word "Organic" many times. Yet to my knowledge, it's not possible to farm hydro/aquaponic and get certified organic status in Canada.

I hope they've got experience with the particular design requirements for a bermed building. What they're proposing will be a MAJOR undertaking! And they're planning an LED-lit grow facility? Interesting! I'm all for LED technology, but I wonder about the cost to equip a commercial operation like this. Costs for this build are going to be astronomical!

This proposal is pretty "pie in the sky"...not sure how much of it is actually realistic. Best of luck to them in making this come to fruition.
 
It's a super cool concept for sure..but it seems...corny? is that the word? like they're trying too hard to be that much different? just my thoughts

The LOI they got basically means they have permission to build already and, once they pass the inspection, they're licensed to grow. They're at what I would call the second last step.
 
It does sound cool, but LED.. is that proven to work at scale yet?
I know they're getting advice from Amsterdam, but it still seems so risky with the value of a crop.
 
Yes I'm also curious, everyone I know is going the safe and proven rout with conventional lights. That's the beauty of a free market though, we get to see experiments like this. If they are successful and pump out great products, this will really be a turning point for the growing world.
 
if you use fish like that you need a commercial fishing license or something like that, it's a very weird rule cause even if your say at home hydro gardening with using your 8 fish in a tank you need a license for the fish. but to keep the fish and the garden separate no license needed.

would you still not have to flush the plants because of the steady stream of nutrients being fed by the fish? all for a better smoke
 
the fish and aquaponics will not supply enough full nuts for the flowering plants, also the fish will prob be fed with a gmo pellets. =not organic. led suck a lot of nuts from plants and there for needing a liquid feeding regiment.

To the best of my knowledge they aren't a commercially viable option yet. There's only one company that has been used in commercial settings which is Lumigrow.(Here's a link to many of the commercial uses of these lights. Easier than linking the 12+ articles they provide http://www.lumigrow.com/news/press/ ) I have used LED's before and they do provide crazy resin and terpene production in cannabis, but the overall footprint of the lights are significantly smaller which doesn't help commercial applications. Also initial costs would be enough to break the bank in itself at an average of around $1200-$1500 minimum for a 600-750W light depending on brand. That's A LOT of overhead on lights alone. 99% of these lights are made in china and just re branded between companies. Some companies play around with spectrums but it's all manufactured in China. You end up with a poorly ventilated lights with what they refer to as "heat sinks", laughable really. LED's have come a LOOOOOOONG way over the last few years, but not quite up to commercial level unless you have the money to throw at them. Home use, provided you have the cash and research the companies involved is a more viable option now than 5 yrs ago.

I would hope they won't be intending to use your typical ebay overpriced gen 12 luminary with gen 2 led UFO either.

If they do it right they could get their investment's worth out of it at least, and stand a better chance at producing consistent results than any joker with HID flapping their lips about repeatability...
