Wide Spectrum LED Lights and Results

Here's my back story:

I started growing indoors about 6 years ago using California Lightworks led's. While I got good results I always felt that I wasn't maximizing the plants potential. Even after getting past all of nubs mistakes, I still wasn't satisfied. I've used every led that CLW makes. The best results that I got was with their COB lights. I also bought a couple of 315 watt CMH's with 3100k bulbs. Still, I was not satisfied. I wasn't getting the weight or nice frosty dense buds. I was doing everything the same as a friend of mine who has been growing for a bit longer than me. My friends grows always far exceeded mine. He recently retired a 600 watt HPS and offered it to me. So, I installed it and did a grow with it. The difference was startling! Nice, big frosty buds and plenty of weight.
I have been a big proponent of LED's. However, after my experience with the hps, I don't think that I'll be going back to led anytime soon.
I understand the specs and efficiency of led's. However, my eye test tells me that I'm getting better results withh hps than with any of the other lights I'v tried. I'm going to use my cobs as supplemental lights.

My question is about quantum/lightstrip led's.
When considering spending +$1000 for an LED you want to know that it's going to work. Given my previous experiences with LED's I'm curious to know what kind of results people are getting. I'm more interested in smaller batch craft growing than super yields. Are people getting large chunky buds with lots of frost or not?
Thanks:clap::peace::weed:
