First the disclaimer:

This will be my first and probably last grow journal on RIU. I just usually do not have time to post and keep a journal updated, but I think I can squeeze the time in for next couple months to do this journal. I also do not claim to be the "subcool" of cannabis, but I am an educated, common sense, practical grower that adapts, learns, adjusts and thinks about my growing.

I know I have been gifted information that helped me along the way in my quest to grow my own fantastic medicine, so I think of it as passing it on. I encourage questions, comments or constructive criticism just please keep the journal on track as we progress through the plants journey to my lungs.

Thank you.

Now on to my Blue Cheese Journal :

My main method of growing now is 2 gallon buckets in veg, then into 3.5 gallon buckets or 5 gallon buckets in flower (depending on the plant veg size). I started out with a "stinkbud" system that I read about here on RIU, and that worked and worked well. I wanted the ability to run different strains and stagger my flowers for a semi-perpetual harvest where I am getting a couple plants every three or so weeks. The DWC buckets offered the flexibility I needed to accomplish this, so I dove into DWC. I am a legal medical patient in my state and abide by all laws so I am never running more then the few I am allowed to grow so the extra work of individual buckets is not too bad.

I never veg a certain time frame, the plants tell me how long they need to produce the plants that I am looking for. Usually they are 12-14" high when I place them into flower stage, this again depends on if I am on top of things and the plants grow as they should how long. These two clones have been cloned from a buddy's plant in mid-december so they are still young so I thought it be good time for a journal. I have never had Blue Cheese so I am excited to get these done as well! I had to look the strain up and here is what I found:

"Blue Cheese was created by crossing a set of Blueberry males, acquired from several different breeders, with Big Buddha Cheese, the backbone of many of Big Buddha's breeding projects. The resulting seeds were grown out and a male was selected from 40 different Blueberry x Cheese male contestants, becoming the rpoud papa of this pungent strain. The selected Blueberry Cheese male was then crossed once again with a Big Buddha Cheese female, making this hybrid a mostly cheese plant with a hint of blueberry.

Blue Cheese has round swirls of compact flowers that develop distinctly purple hues near the finish. The close internodes of this plant make it highly suitable for sea of green growing. Indoor plants in SOG mature in 8-10 weeks. She produces a huge main cola indoors or out, with respectable additions to the yield from the controlled side branching. In the last two weeks, this strain finishes around Halloween.

Blue Cheese's flavor has a soft fruity kiss of blueberry that fans of the fruit will appreciate, anchored in a strong underlying flavor that is unmistakably Cheese - slightly funky and dank with a woodsy edge. The combined taste is musky and spicy with a sweet cotton candy note and a hint of berries on the exhale. While the yield is not as abundant as some commercial strains selected for their pumped-up buds, growers in search of connesseur flavors will find the yield to be generous when compared to other varieties in the category.

The biggest pleasure of the Blue Cheese is its high, which comes on smooth on easy, and stays very functional while creating a feeling of great euphoria and an opening into outlook. This high opens the mind by relaxing the body. It's comforting, balanced vibe that can take a nice long walk, or sit by the fire at home."

Sounds good. So I said "hell ya gimme a couple". Now we get to grow these together and hopefully help some growers out along the way.

My nutrient soup is as follows :

I have used Botanicare, GH and others in the past but I like the Advanced Nutrients Sensi Two part for simplicity and results. It seems to give my plants what it needs when they need it, and it keeps the buckets pretty clean of salts and grime. I use Blue Labs meters there is my combo ppm/ph meter for measuring the ph/ppm. If any of you are using liquid testing in any type of hydro, quit growing now or switch to dirt. Hydro of any kind is "water" that means that the water is your plants medium, food and other vital crap for staying alive. I am not going to pretend to know all that is about H2O and its properties but I know if it's not in check you will not be growing for long. Good meters are essential, I have had them all Hannah, Milwaukee and the one that I can simply call the "best I have had" is the Blue Labs.

I do use some B-52 and Cal-Mag as well but didn't put pics of those. I will put a complete recipe up after I post the next paragraph on root zone!

ROOTS!

I have a special soup for my DWC roots, as people know that roots are in liquid and prone to rot and other nasty things. I had my share of problems, I been back and forth between SM-90, Dutch-masters Zone, H202 and beneficial bacteria's. They both worked but I wanted the fastest, healthiest options so I did tests on plants at the same time frames and stages. No doubt for me that the beneficial grow faster, more abundant and thicker then just sterile buckets. I tried the Heisenberg tea and it worked but it was messy and time consuming so I came up with a bucket only brew that lasts couple weeks per bucket and its in the bucket with the plant.

I use AquaShield, Voodoo Juice and ZHO with a bit of Botanicares Sweet for food. You cannot grow and thrive beneficials without a food source like molasses or sugars like Sweet. Molasses worked well but was way too messy, so I switched to sweet with good results. I never see rot or any bad things just lots of white roots that keep coming, so I am happy with it. Some say that AquaShield is pretty much the same bacteria as Voodoo so after my Voodoo Juice is gone I am going to run some without it as a test to verify. If so that would be awesome as Voodoo Juice is expensive.

So here is my mix for this clones at the moment in order as I use them:

2 Gallon bucket for plant add approximately 2 gallons water (plants are in 3.75 net pots in veg and stay in there till harvest and in 2 gallon pails I like water at first to be about 1/2" up into pot for roots to get established. I use RO water that ppm is 30. Not sure why but my RO unit takes it down only to 30 always has from day one, but my water is pretty bad well water at 600ppm!!!).

2ml Botanicare Sweet (any flavor)
4ml Voodoo Juice
10ml Aqua Shield
ZHO Powder
(I sprinkle just a bit in from package and mix in)

Adjust ph to 5.6-5.8

16ml each Sensi-Grow A&B
5ml Cal-Mag
(for RO water)
4ml B-52

This is about 1000ish ppm for these size clones they should be able to soak that up. I never get much above 1500ish with AN SensiGrow line in veg or flower.

Here are the two clones so far they are in 3" rockwool (I only use 1.5") and are just sitting in net pots with no medium so far. I like to let roots get all the spray from bubbles until I feel the roots are long and healthy enough to thrive. I use no drip ring or other pumps for simplicity.:

BC 1 - aka Audry

roots:

BC 2 - aka Lana

roots:

BC2 (Lana) was set into the net pot few days ahead of number one so roots are bit longer but should be no problem. I did top them both but did a diagram for people who don't know what topping is, and basically its cutting the main stem to allow the plant to focus on created stems already for bigger colas etc. Some people cut eat branch to top, and scrog etc but I just top it and be done with it. I will use soft twist wires to help bend branches etc for maximum light expose but I never use screens etc. I want as much flexibility as possible and that comes at compromising other aspects.

Here is the pic of the topping of Lana.

Well that's the start to this journal. I am going to try to make this as informative for the newbies as possible, so to give back somewhat. Enjoy the ride.

I always share reps so if you post something useful, I will give you rep. Please do the same if someone else or myself helps you here or anywhere at RIU.

Nice, I am gonna go ahead and sit back and watch this one.
Thanks brother, enjoy the ride. Point out any things you have issues with or just like as well. I have a thick skin, but am always up to new ideas or methods that will benefit me. I am smart enough to logically think if it will work or not "for me" and respond.

Again welcome bro.

Damn brothers.. I had some clones come in and had to give away one BlueCheese for an Agent Orange! The one Bluecheese in the picture is in flower will post pics tonight as well as pics of the monster agent orange. I do have some nice strains coming into veg now that might be included here for reference:

Also the BC left had issues with its rockwoll (gotten from a guy I hardly know) it was getting all funky so I dug the plant out and put it just in hydro-ton, seemed like it could breath a bit better. Just of the reference I do things to these plants the others consider abuse, but from my experience the plants take WAY more abuse then most give them credit for. Just give them time to heal and all is good!

ChemDog
PermaFrost
CaliConnection 818 Headband
SharksBreath
JuicyFruit
Sage-N-Sour
Chocolope Kush
HolyGrail Kush

Let me know what ones you guys want to see if any, if not I will just pic some random plants.

I have two juicy fruit babies now and will include them in this journal! I will also include them with pics tomorrow, I already left the room for the night with these pics! :) OH! I almost forgot I started this thread before I found DynaGro.. and left the AN hype. In my opinion Dyna line is a awesome line at ANY price range, good for us we only pay what we do for such an incredible product. I will post my line up and soup soon if anyone wants.

Blue Cheese Week 2 of Flower (started a bit early from veg so its smallish to my standards) *not the plant fault*

Nice buds forming in only week 2 of flower.

Here are my others in early week 2 flower: Agent Orange, Bubblegum, Sugar Black Rose, Super Lemon Haze

Oh and yes I am doing a PermaFrost Hempy Bucket run to see if I like it, getting rid of the hoses, pumps and crap seems nice. I do notice that DWC buckets smoke VEG time while the roots find food in perlite.

Ok... lets go over my soup, I have stated in my previous posts and I will go over here in my journal because I think people who do not know me need to know how I arrived to this lineup.

When I started this journal initialy I was on the Advanced Nutrients Sensi line of nutrients. Mainly because they gave me decent results and I was hoping to see the so-called claims of monster yields, beautiful buds etc. I always keep an open mind and follow the "whats hot now" crowd, only to usually be let down because someone else had "great" results. I want a product that works for "ME" not someone else, so I continue to search. I have read some posts here and there about DynaGro, but as most of you put this "low cost" salt nutrient on the "not for me" list as it's cheap, not really hyped, simple, and low dosage. Pfftt.. pretty much all that the big name companies have to offer is the "hype".

Anwyay.. I read another thread with a grower here using DynaGro and EBB Flow, with just beautiful plants. I mean some the best I had seen, and I finally said "ok" lets give this a shot! I ran down and bought these pretty much for 60 bucks. **Look hard, they are usually on bottom shelf or back of your hydro store dunno why, but if everyone bought this line they would be out of business I think.

Soup Recipe per Gallon (Add in order):

7ml ProTeKt
5ml DynaGro Grow
1ml MagPro

What!?! I spend that much on couple bottles for just veg or flower lasting one harvest and this set will last me several grows and entire grows from seed to harvest! I was pretty happy about that, but cheap is cheap if it doesn't produce. So I dumped one of my AN PH Perfect Sensi buckets and replaced with the non-recirculating DWC formula which is ridiculously low ppm from what I was using, so hopes were not high. In 24 hours that plant showed me that this stuff is the real deal, it grew almost twice in 24 hours that it had in days, leaves perked up, prayed to the light and said "Thank you. You're finally feeding us!". WOW. I replaced the soup into all my veg buckets and every plant, no matter what strain what stage same result. A better, healthier and faster growing plant! SOLD and on the CHEAP SIDE NOW!

For root protection I use :

bene.jpg

2ml Sweet
2ml Voodoo
10ml Aquashield
(I use that Nitrozyme as a foliar spray once week in veg - it makes em grow like crazy but will N lock if used too much!)

I know they both are pretty much the same bacteria, but I tried without each in buckets and neither did as well as with both together. I was hoping to drop voodoo (as it is costly as f!(@*!) and AquaShield is cheap and works miracles at fraction of cost. I do stop voodoo at first day of flower, and I never change my bucket in veg so 2ml is all I use per bucket (unless I dump it for a reason).

Only additives I use in flower are these:

flow.jpg

2ml BigBud (thru week 3)
2ml Gravity (week 4)

I use sledgehammer to reduce salt build up, only few drops per bucket. Bottle will last me till I die, and it really works well.

Other then that I use RO water, air pump/air stone 2.5 gallon buckets in veg and 3.5 gallons in flower.

Would that thread be Homebrewer's by any chance? I read both of them and have switched myself. I'm here for the ride to. I'm doing a DWC bucket for my next grow, so I really want to see how yours goes. It looks great btw. My hydro store doesn't carry anything but KLN from Dyna so I just ordered from them. I ended up getting the foliage plus rather then the grow. Are you having to use the Magpro a lot? I want to say Homebrewer only ended up using it every now and then, I could be wrong though.

Yes Homebrewer... he turned me and hopefully many more!

I go through MagPro the least of the Four I run.. Grow, Bloom, ProteKt. Actually the only one you will "eat" through is the proteKt but I may be lowering my dosage soon as I am seeing silicon residue.. I think is from that and not the the salts in the nutes but everything and I mean EVERY strain I throw at this nute lineup just loves it. No more oh this strain needs this and that needs that, BS just give em DynaGro.

Sorry just hit some awesome.. Sugar Black Rose and I feel light headed atm.. lol.
