No, you are mistaken. It is MOSTLY the strict adherents of religion who commit these heinous acts of violence. Fundamentalists follow their holy books pretty much to the letter, and fundamentalists (of all religions) are usually the ones who become violent. Fundamentalist Christians commit domestic terrorism in our own country. It doesn't make them any less of a Christian. The ones who DON'T follow the violent commands of their holy texts are the ones who aren't actually Christians/Muslims. The ones committing these atrocities are the ones who are following exactly what their books say they should do. We SHOULD treat all religion as cancer, and we should acknowledge the effect which that cancer has on infirm and irrational minds. Moderate religious people are just as complicit, because they advance the idea that these books are the direct word of god, so even if the people say "Don't kill people", they are still saying "This book contains the word of God", which creates a situation where "God" is saying to kill people and "People" are saying not to. Who do you think a truly religious person will listen to? The words they believe come from God, or the words they know come from people?
Show me in the christian bible where it says kill someone.
I am an atheist, but lets be real, where in the christian bible does it say kill someone?
Don't waste my time quoting old testament, old testament is before Christ (Christian), only use the new testament.

"He said to them, 'But now if you have a purse, take it and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. (Luke 22:36)
I guess Jesus wanted the disciples to have swords to cut bread.

So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. ( Revelation 2:22-23 )

Jesus clearly states that the old laws are not to change, and that he has come to uphold these laws. So all murder, slavery, child abuse and so forth should still apply.

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17

Revelation is a book of prophecy.

Also one disciple's sword sliced off an ear when men came to capture jesus but Jesus healed the man.

49When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” 50And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.

51But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him

It's not a slippery slope argument. If you believe one group is responsible for all the worlds problems - and this is very much true for many ideologies - it isn't illogical to want to kill them. It is illogical to believe that any one group is responsible for all the world's problems however. It's also debateably illogical to believe violence solves anything, but many people do and you can make arguments for it although I believe they are much weaker than arguments against.
Well we agree it is still illogical to want to kill them. Maybe more of a quasi-slippery slope, what i meant is that type of radical ideology will require other special circumstances (widespread poverty, a history of tribalism, a needed scapegoat, a war torn nation) before it becomes a wide-spread terror/genocide campaign.

I have already done this. New Testament reaffirms, over and over and over, that Old Testament is Law. Christians follow the Bible, the WHOLE Bible, and the Bible says to kill people. If Christians want to pretend that the Old Testament isn't part of Christianity, then they should take it out of the Bible, and change all the verses in the New Testament that say to follow every letter of it. Until then, as long as Christians maintain the Bible as their holy book, ALL books within the Bible are representative of Christianity. Also, as long as Christians maintain that Jesus and God are One, and that the the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God, that means that the entirety of the Old Testament is also the word of Jesus.

1. Because you are disbelievers

"We hate you, first and foremost, because you are disbelievers; you reject the oneness of Allah – whether you realize it or not – by making partners for Him in worship, you blaspheme against Him, claiming that He has a son, you fabricate lies against His prophets and messengers, and you indulge in all manner of devilish practices."

2. Because you are liberal

"We hate you because your secular, liberal societies permit the very things that Allah has prohibited while banning many of the things He has permitted, a matter that doesn’t concern you because you Christian disbelief and paganism separate between religion and state, thereby granting supreme authority to your whims and desires via the legislators you vote into power."

3. Because some of you are atheist

"In the case of the atheist fringe, we hate you and wage war against you because you disbelieve in the existence of your Lord and Creator."

4. For your crimes against Islam

"We hate you for your crimes against Islam and wage war against you to punish you for your transgressions against our religion."

5. For your crimes against Muslims

"We hate you for your crimes against the Muslims; your drones and fighter jets bomb, kill, and maim our people around the world, and your puppets in the usurped lands of the Muslims oppress, torture, and wage war against anyone who calls to the truth."

6. For invading our lands

"We hate you for invading our lands and fight you to repel you and drive you out. As long as there is an inch of territory left for us to reclaim, jihad will continue to be a personal obligation on every single Muslim."

The article concludes that while foreign policy is an issue, the main reason they are hell bent on destruction is because they don't like the West very much.

It reads: "What’s important to understand here is that although some might argue that your foreign policies are the extent of what drives our hatred, this particular reason for hating you is secondary, hence the reason we addressed it at the end of the above list.

"The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam."

I thought it was a religion of peace??
