why the abundance of shitty strains?

I tend to agree with the PURE sativa crowd, all strains nowadays are hybrids so anything you call sativa actually has lots of other shit in it. You keep saying sativa DOM or indica DOM etc. so you obviously havent tried TRUE sativa genetics man hybrids are not the same, but to each his/her own I like to have some energy and motivation when Im high not become a vegetable

Hi Friend's,

There are lots of pure Sativa's still around, my posts really just as a ''Sativa Evangalist'' for there IS a lot of crap herb out there made usually from others introductions and from appallingly bad selections. For me, the blazed out, closed eyed and fucked up cloudy, Indica type effects are useless. Unless like Brick Top says, you really wanna waste your life sat channel hopping from the couch. Not for me, just too many beutiful women, places and spaces on this planet. They make for crap conversation, shit sex, cloudy beaches and boring parties. I get the big body stones, and have lines that deliver that for me too, but that cloudy, boring, thing just ain't for me. It is possible to clean that up in even pure Indicas with good selection in non bottlenecked stocks. So it just does not need to be like that.

I don't come here to spam anything, I've no need. But just to give you a idea of some of the Pure Sativa's out there being grown and enjoyed here's a few pics from Last years customers grows from my releases alone, Sativa's Pura. Not hybrids, these are all pure Sativa's, Colombian Black, Red's, Mota's, Punto Rojo, Goldbud, Purples, Panama Red's, Malawi's, Zimbabwe's, Sri Lankan, Ghana, Bolivia, Acapulco, Oaxacan, Hawaii and pure Haze's.

Of course there are other breeders out there working with and releasing Pure Sativas, Reeferman, Ace, CBG all have pure Sativa's in the market. So, not everything is hybrid guy's.

NO!!!!!! you cant!!!!!!!!!!!!! even if it gets pollinated to shit!!!!!!!!! it will still be fucking dank.....has long has you harvest at peak potency......

No, that is not true. Lost of people say that genetics are everything. I used to say it too, but it is not true. Top quality genetics only guarantee that if a skilled grower that provides optimal or near optimal growing conditions and environment, does everything or most everything right they will be greatly rewarded. But the very same genetics in the hands of an unskilled grower with a poor setup and way less than optimal conditions can result in a crop that it little better than Roadside Red.

Growing is somewhat like taking a test. You are handed your test and you have the possibility of achieving a perfect score, but for every error you make your score drops. It is the same with growing. The better your genetics the better chance there is that unless you do many things wrong and encounter many problems what you end up with will still be good, but it might only be 75% or 86% of what the genetics had to offer.

The guarantee that comes with low quality genetics is even in the hands of the most skilled grower with the very best setup and absolutely optimal conditions and environment the results will only be so-so, average at best.

It is impossible to grow any strain beyond it's genetic limitations, but it is easy to fail to maximize/reach/achieve the very high genetic limitations on high quality genetics due to lack of knowledge, lack of skill, a poor setup, providing poor growing conditions and a poor growing environment.

Humans have been cultivating it for thousands of years and have come up with some awesomely potent strains. So why do we still have genetically inferior weed?
Producing a good product is 90% genetics, 90% grower skill. Cannabis growers are among the shittiest growers on this planet, that is why there is still 'inferior weed'.

Ya my first plant was the airiest fuckin indica I think I will ever run across but I only had 70 watts too, and bagseed genes

Do you think this is limited to weed? There are some incredible and expensive strains of roses and there are some shit looking ones that don't smell nice that are still sold even today. There are some great varieties of tomatoes and there are some pretty bland commercial ones as well. As Brick Top mentioned there are various reasons that mediocre strains have propagated. You also have to consider that the vast majority of marijuana in the world is not specially cultivated but pure landrace strains, some better than others.
But the reason you find bland strains of tomatoes is for other reasons. It's not because they haven't had the time or technology to make good strains. You are trading off for something if you have a bland tomato. Maybe it's not as tasty, but the strain can produce 3 times as much fruit. Never have I encountered a "bag seed" tomato garden, or a grower growing shitty tomatoes because of limiting genetics (it's 100% of the time shitty growing conditions).

However there are strains that sell because of yield and have so-so potency and no flavor so how is this different?

But we've had 10,000 years of cultivation to culminate. A lot of retards and unskilled gardeners eat and grow tomatoes too, but we have still managed to make forward progress. If anyone wants to grow tomatoes you are going to start out with primo genetics for dirt cheap. For $2 worth of seeds I can produces hundreds of pounds of juicy tomatoes with minimal effort. Never would I ever even consider growing tomatoes from seeds I found in a tomato in a ditch on the side of the road. In fact I don't even know where I would be able to find inferior genetics tomato seeds.

I wouldn't say those are shitty genetics. If you want to sacrifice potency in place of yield it makes perfect sense in some situations.

If you do not have vastly different quality levels to offer then you cannot push vastly different price levels. They need to sell shitty seeds so that customers feel a justification in spending twice as much on the better seeds. There is also an abundance of dumb as kids, who have no jobs no house and no money and insist on buying the cheapest mass deal they can afford, when they're 15yrs old, who gives a damn if it's a MN strain or similar if you can spend $25 and get 10 seeds!

Like with weed, i'm sure someone could breed out some tomatoes and end up creating a shitty unstable poor yielding strain.
