IDK about them maybe if I had a smell problem I`d stick a uvc lamp in the extract duct but pure uv lights can fry a plant fast, uva and uvb seem to be better uvc you only want a very very low levels, so most "uv" lights are useless because its either filtered out or they make way too much uvc

Tri phosphorus tubes with very thin glass are best for the kinda uv you want to amber buds

But that`s not my method but there was a guy on here called Riddler / RM3 he flowers using blue tube lights and makes some of the most amber resin plants I`ve even seen a picture of

I`m an led/induction man myself, would like to play with lep, on a budget grow I`ll use MH/HPS to get the light levels up

Saying that I`ve got some 300w cob chips, drivers and heatsinks just been sitting there for months waiting for me to get some wire and make them up, probably could have got them so much cheaper now months later as led tech seems to really drop in price over time
Oh i'm well aware of rm3 and his personal website to avoid the trolls at rollitup only to come back after making said site and starting a thread here. I think its wonderful that he has dialed in t-5 growing for himself, i really didnt like some of his opinions/advice he was giving folks, nor his responses to those who thought a couple of his comments were alil outlandish........so upwards and onwards man....never been happier!

I've grown with leds the whole way through and wasn't to impressed with results in bloom. I was using area-51 leds which are top of line. Granted I don't think I had enough coverage for my 4x4 tent I was using. I was using 2 rw-150watts from a-51, 1- rw-75w from a-51, and 130w ufo led. I thought about trying those Inda-Gro induction lights w/pontoons but they're to pricey. Also like using aircooled hoods because I'm in tents and its much easier to control temps with a/c hoods. Right now I have 16bulb 4' t5 light setup for veg and a 1000w hps in a 8" dominator xxxl a/c hood/ 5x5 gorilla tent for bloom. Loving this setup because my place isn't huge. There's actually room in the 5x5 to put the 4 leds around the xxxl hood. Would that be worth doing, adding my leds to a 1000w hps bloom tent so plants would get some other spectrums and better coverage??? Don't know if its overkill.

Not sure about you, my single ended 1k's are perfect in a 4x5x6. Just make sure you have headroom for the picky bitches that dont like too much light. If you add the led's in that spot im gonna say its a bit overkill, but if you can manage the temp and electricity why not?

Came out good. Nice genetics there
Thanks very much man. Got clones from my boy who doesn't to a lot of research when he orders seeds. I told him to stay away from green house seeds. He got afgooey from strainhunters which is ghs. I was skeptical but it was a very nice plant and decent pheno. Not a huge yielder definitely a connoisseur type of bud. Here she is...afgoo.jpg afgooey, trimmed her up last night

Does nutrients affect THC content and potency? :o
Its all in the gene's man,,,lol,, indoor weed gets more potent because you/or someone else knows what their doing so the plants get babied,, outdoor plants get beat up by the elements,, wind/rain/fuckin animals/ so sometimes theres less tric's = weekr pot,(slightly)

if your interested in induction lights perhaps you should consider these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Induction-Grow-Light-AND-Ballast-250-Watt/301806247838?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=34295&meid=2bdf58e1a53447ff9018d8a07ad8cc85&pid=100011&rk=1&rkt=10&sd=301803759924 these are sold by the largest indoor farm in las vegas (R fish and veggies) and they have hundreds in stock. they auction them every week. the SPD they sent me is very similar to a full spectrum MH lamp. unfortunately this site is not letting me upload that graph but the company will send it to you on request

People often get led setups wrong, well people that have been growing with hids before get them wrong

To me the good thing about leds is where I have a 1000w hps I can normally put 2000w of led before there are any heat issues and I can cover the plants better

Led`s are easier to aim there normally between 60" and 180" spread so all the light go`s down towards the plants, and if I have a tall plant then normally as the led units I use are made up of 1w to 300w led chips the plant can get closer then it can to a hps

The other good thing you can do with leds is you can bring down the heat and optimize the spectrum so you can water less or use a smaller pot sometimes

They mix well with hids too yeah I`ve ran a 600hps with a 1000hps and about 1000w of led in the same area before they all work together well

I`ll normally put the leds and or the 600 on for 12/12 and the run the 1000`s for 10/14 saves me a bit of power

Induction lights are good great for veg and building frost, but not very good for flowering large plants, mostly because 200 to 400w is the max size most induction tubes come in, so for bigger plants you need a lot of lights like 1 per 4 plants up to 2 to 4 lamps per plant

but for smaller grows induction can really make some killer bud or if you have a large budget I guess induction would be less work than all the flora tubes you`d have to put up

The real problem with people using leds is they often think that "600w led light" means their led will use 600w`s and they can replace their 600w hps for that led, normally a 600w led unit uses around 300w but can be as low as 150w

But that`s just the start as a 600w hps really uses around 700w some units more and then add the extra heat they give off, so most of the time you can go to 700w in led before your using the same amount of power and probably to 800w before you`d even be anywhere near as hot as a 600 hps in the same space

So most people buy a 300w led thinking its a 600 hps killer, when they need to buy a 1200w to 1600w led unit to be using the same amount of power as the hps would

Now when you realize that you realize your choice is use very large led panels or use lights with very large led chips in them or you can us 4 x 300w led units in the place of 1 600w hps and you`ll still use less power infact maybe 5 x 300w led units is more the case

with 5 x 300w led units using 1w leds, well I know I can get 150g to 300g per panel easy so 5 of them will out yield a hps

but now days most panels use 3w to 10w leds so that you get bud more that 2 hands down

These units need to be tested for consumption as they`ll do the same as the 1w units, they`ll use 300 x 1w leds and say "300w led light" but then only drive them leds @ .5w per light so its really only a 150w light, as the leds get bigger a lot of makers still under power them your average 3w led in a unit is being driven at anything from 1w to 2w

Now when I get them cheap its ok

but when I build my own then I get a 100w led and a 70w or 100w driver and just put a good heatsink/fan combo or I get them so cheap who cares if they`ll dye in a year ?

So yeah a lot of the time when using leds people think there adding a lot more power than they really are

Consumption wise using led to match a 600 hps takes between 400w and 800w depending on what kind of light your using and what aspects of hps you want to match but remember that a 600 hps uses more than 600w`s to get you that light, but on a budget nothing will give you more Par per £ than a hps there just so common that there cheap as chips.
