Why I grow from Seed,

Just my opinion but there are a couple of reasons I grow from seed. First I'm just a weed whore, I can't resist trying new varieties.
But I believe that if you grow from clones all the time the plants get weaker, I think they lose resistance to pest would probably be more accurate. The mould spores are always present and I find that clones are more likely to be affected. Growing from seed allows for several new varieties that have not been present before and they seem more resistant. Also if you have several varieties no matter what strikes you will not get wiped out and always have something for your efforts. Where its true with clones you know what your going to get and how long to flower but several different kinds you will learn more in general. I grow at least 6 kinds of weed, some for different highs and some to try and some just in case. You never have too much but you can have too little. Next year I'm growing SkyDog and Mikush and who knows what else.bongsmilie

good point, but i like the idea of a "vault" of little bonsai mothers that would allow you to take cuttings anytime you want and you don't have to buy more seeds to get the same strain. but yes it sucks smoking the same stuff all the time, i like a little variety as well.bongsmilie

i like seeds also ,as you say if one clone get a bug infestation they all do ,i still clone ,but always try new seeds for variety ,and i believe also for pest resistance , i have some early sativa ,aussie blue and white widow for this spring which is just around the corner here in oz, i usually try to seed one head of a different strain to see what i get and save some money, happy growing

I agree its fun to try something new every year. I always have a mother anyway.
Its not like you can kill the damn things unless you dig them up roots and all.

the word "clone" in regards to plant trimmings the take root, is a bogus stoner term.

it is not really a clone, it is just the same plant.

i don't think it is correct to say that it would be any different than the plant it was cut from. where would the genetic code have a chance to be flawed if it never is really copied.

as for diseases the come off the "mother" plant, that is another matter that affects alot more than just the "clone", but the whole grow space itself.

by the way, nice plants
+rep for you

I'm not saying there is any difference in the plant. I'm saying that like most gardeners know that putting the same crops in the same space pest adapt and the plant is more susceptable. This is why ppl rotate crops instead of just putting the same thing in the same field every year. Your right the pest would still be in the grow room or any grow space. Changing the plant makes it harder for pest to ajust thats all.
