Why do you newbs always grow auto's?

I'm a newb. first grow was fem C99 seeds... i currently am running a Think Different auto 62 days in. she's getting close to harvest. its cupcake and superstealth... i tried a little LST on it... not sure if it hurt or helped. pretty sure it was the pot (3gallon) that is limiting me to what looks like it will be maybe hopefully 3 zips.. i'm using 24 hour light cycle with about a daily 3 hour break. i'm running a little loose so i missed giving her a break a couple of times... i got 47 other things going on and i wish i could spend more time and have a garden but good lord this is easy and all i have is a closet and a strain that doesn't give a fuck about fuck and only about growing into pretty fucking awesome herb and this is all i needed to grow it g8 240 watt LED light, some Fox farm soil, some bloom nutes, and water. This is why we "newbs" grow fucking autos.. are you fucking stupid? its a risk reward tradeoff. many of us "newbs" have a fucking day job and live in a stupid fucking state.... Imagine how crazy this rant would be if i was waiting for 4 months instead of 2. this blog is really like sitting in a starbucks listening to hipsters arguing about whether somalian coffee or hawaiian coffee is better. you are in a facking starbucks man. step outside into the rest of the world where people have different circumstances and have heard differing opinions and want to give a run at a few different thinks... literally you need to Think Different. nice pun right amarite?

Y'all do know they suck right? They are a horrible idea to even start with.

You can't take cuttings, they yield like shit and they use more light..

Can one of y'all share with me why you would possibly ever want to grow shit genetics?
so there are some FARMS in spain that got busted with 20000 AUTO's inbetween the olives/citrus . i guess to garuntee a harvey before the olives/citrus is done ? i could not belive it till i read it

that was the old way ........what u veggie the mother for 6 weeks get maybe 100 clones can do that 2 more times 300 clones

1 plant gone to seed can make up over 1000 seeds
sorry the seeds win ......the cost of starting them is nothing under 50 cents
cost of the clones u are looking 2 3 dollars for the chemical and the cloner and the power used not counting the cost of the mother in general

in 4 years i have had 11 seeds fail to spourt (3 did but got trapped under the mesh of the plug ) ......how many clones have failed in that time for u
i am sorry i think clones are bad they are the same strain ...........1 strain has a max life of 10 weeks after that want something different that strain just sits around

clones to me are only worth it if u have several shops u supply over a 300 mile area ........other wise one day u walk in with your killer weed and u hear no thanks we still have 2 lbs from the last time

the reason to use clones is
1 to cut the growth time
2 to get a female plant
I thought it was dope you're getting that kinda yield off auto's but you're a kook. LMFAO @ popping seeds then selling them as such and such strain ( or you just make a name up). Keepers are rare as fuck. that next level weed is friggin rare you have to run numbers for a long as time to find that plant that is a knock out. Maybe this is why all the weed I see around is rarely all that good. Clones are the fastest way to produce. You've already said it autos don't have much in the terpene department. The market doesn't want that bland ass weed. I don't get that part where you're talking about rec smokers only care about smell and taste. and that medical smokers care about terpene content. What the fuck do you think makes the flavor? woooooow. The amount of horrible info passed by people on here is t an all time high. but what do i care keep doing it your way. I can't get over that you're selling weed that is a complete unknown n how the genetics stacked up. People need to realize every plant aint great. More of that goofy shit on riu!

Its not about hipster coolness of autoflowers its a logical conclusion of photoperiod strains for experienced growers.

Harder to duplicate C. ruderalis. This makes you a slave to the seebank or you'll be tossing pollen to make seeds. In real life I can give a person 1 clone and they NEVER have to go back to a seedbank again. I was gifted 1 clone of Girl Scout Cookies a few years ago I still take cuttings from her to this day. So I have a stable gene to work with.

If you ran a perpetual harvest you can rotate in a plant into bloom every 2 weeks, So you will be constantly harvesting. This applies to photoperiod plants or autoflowers.

Clever marketing has you brainwashed.

You're not kidding.... Seems everyday somebody's descending into a nervous breakdown round here. Makes me feel much better about my own neuroses though :bigjoint:
Could it be that these outbursts of emotion are related to heavy marijuana use???
I'm still trying to find balance. If I consume zero cannabis, I get way too intense. If I consume a lot, I get apathetic w/occasional outbursts of anger.
Maybe I'm just nuts...

Definitely! I'm an emotional, hormonal wreck, I think I have too much empathy or something; smoking weed levels me off a bit and makes everything less overwhelming but then there's days where I get shite all done and I think maybe I need to cut down. Then I go to bed without having smoked, do a sleepless night, and get back on the weed!

I personally quit smoking for a solid 2 weeks before I chop a crop, gotta start timing these runs better lolol

I run autos for speed and yield. 24/0 lighting is a tiny electrical cost increase over 12/12.(+$50/m2 per 12 weeks) And I've only had one plant push past 12 so far. 12 weeks is the point where I'd say SoG clones should perform as fast. (2 week root, 2 week veg, 8 week flower) Yield is better than any photoperiods I've ever ran.

I agree that clones make for consistency, and that's what most commercial operations want, but for home growing, autos are gonna get the fastest biggest bud.

This is a 4oz Dinafem critical+ auto. My biggest square foot yield, but she pushed past 12 weeks.(96 day seed to weed, 1045g/m2)
IMAG1571.jpg

I dropped to giving them half a square foot for a consistent 1-2oz per plant. (500-1000g/m2) single 2.5'x5' tent, 21 pots, 28 counting seedling pots. Current average 754g/m2, 1.63g/w.(based on 21 plants) Organically grown bud, I expect a dialed in hydro grower to see bigger returns.

Seed cost is minimal here at around $5 per (mephisto genetics), since this is LOS, entire maintenance cost is under $15 per plant(electricity, soil, seed). They're also on a perlite wick bed, so even the labor is minimal.

For personal growing, it's hard to argue against autos, just as potent, more bud in less time.

How much returns do you get from those big leafy buds when you extract?
I care more about the trich. production than the weight of the buds.

I don't see anything special about autos, other then some extra leaves in the bud.

A lot more if you're going for extracts. Between these 2(last week's harvest), 3 oz of top bud, over 2oz of lowers and trim. That's 5oz of frost covered plant material from about a sq ft of grow space.

I can only speak for my personal experience, but I no longer grow photoperiods.

Ooh you've got the Heisenberg Special! I have 3 seedlings I popped in jiffy plugs, potted up in 5 gallon smart pots with coco & perlite. Any tips? How did it do for you? I've never grown autos before or plants from seed so it's all kind of guesswork at this point.

Heisenberg nug looks great, but your claiming those plants have 5oz of bud on each?
I've grown many 3-5oz plants and those are smaller+less branches than my 3oz plants...

Maybe they've eliminated most of the ruderalis in those strains, but some of your pictures remind me of the leafy ruderalis genes that I hate.

Have you ever dried rosin extraction on that heisenberg?
I consistently get 19%-29% rosin yields from photoperiods(depending on strain)

Grew great and was dripping in frost by the end. I gave her a basic lollipop and heavy defol. The pot is about 4 actual gallons, 8" square, to pack more pots in my tent. She had a lovely structure and yielded 52.4g of frost dipped bud. A big lady, 28" tall iirc.

I don't know about rosin, just regular butter and tinctures made here. And those 2 plants were 58g and 32g of bud currently at 65% And a quart jar and a pint of frosty trim and lower buds. Together they were 5+ oz of total plant material(3+ oz bud) in a square foot of grow space. Personally I smoke the lower buds and trim myself. Gets me just as high just doesn't look as pretty as a tight top nug.
