Why do I need cryptocurrency to buy beans now?!?!

So, I've been out of the "game" for a while now. Heck, almost a decade. I've bought everything I need for a modest grow, it's being shipped and on its way, and now I can't buy the beans I want!

Seedsman has the beans I want, although they kept adding on to the price as I proceeded through checkout. That really made my gears grind! Anyway, I get to submit payment and my card is declined. I called my bank, no international block. They don't even see that it tried to go through. What gives?!

What has happened the last decade that makes procuring beans such a hassle?! I went to other sites...they spoke of buying gift cards and bitcoin or litecoin, or mailing cash....what?!

Now that I think of it, I always just had beans sent to me for free from members of that "other" site, back in the day. But IIRC, you just needed a dang credit/debit card.

The breeder I'm after has a limited US distribution network, only 2 of which have the strain I'm after. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if it's okay to post the breeders name in this kind of post so I'll hold off for now.

I've been doing some additional reading and it appears it's because it's associated with something that is federally illegal, and VISA, et. al. don't wish to associate their thieving asses with someone trying to grow some medicine. You know they're talking about blocking bitcoin purchasing too, right? What then? Seems to me that this is only going to get more difficult.

Anyway, anyone know any sponsored seedbanks that take debit/credit with no problems and ship to the US? I'll just have to reconsider my strain as I already know they won't have what I'm looking for, an auto blue dream.

Love the song, and I know the federal laws...that's not stopping state after state from growing and selling the actual bud, so I don't see why beans should be so difficult. But then, when did it ever make any sense? I guess I'll just have to send cash, hope it doesn't get lost. Crazy.

Does it have to be seedsman?

I try to use PayPal if possible when purchasing seeds.

I'm after Fastbuds, and they have a list of US distributors. Work that list, filter out the dead links and the distributors that have their newer Blue Dream, add on to that the freebies they throw in, (another 5 seeds for the next grow) and you end up with Seedsman. They say to contact them if you have issues, but it's international phone number and a snail mail address. No email that I can find.

Have you tried "I love growing Marijuana.com"? I got my seeds there & used a Master Card since they suggested Visa would sometimes deny a marijuana purchase. It went through just fine. Don't know if they have what you want, but you can check.

I've used my Visa on Herbie's a couple of times with no trouble at all. They've got a great selection, although I couldn't say if they ship to the US or not.

I've also mailed cash to Mr. Nice after winning some auctions on their site. Again, no trouble whatsoever.

Nah, haven't tried them yet Susanne. So, if you look at the past 3 replies, there are different people saying different things. This is partly why I was so adamant with the strain that I picked. Unless you're running clones, you're more than likely to have a fem that can, like people, either have blue eyes or brown, etc. al. I'm going to look into Susanne's suggestion and GrowGorilla's as well. Once I get the seeds, it'll be fun in the neighborhood. I feel like my first indoor grow shouldn't be a photo-period. I mean, my goal for 5 plants over 5x5 with 1000w dimmable mh-hps is 6 ounces. Leaving a lot of room for error there. You guys have all been really great. I do appreciate the feedback from you guys.

There are a few old schoolers on this thread, but let me tell you how it once was, for those that have't been around for a period of time. Doesn't make you less knowledgeable, but getting beans used to be just as easy as sending out a PM. Again, not trying to make you feel insignificant, just want to stress how different it was not so long ago, especially considering bud is recreational in so many states now as well.

Hey, that's cool man. It's not the folk I am uneasy about, it's the stark contrast from 2002 compared to about, compared to now. Maybe you're just comfortable with it, but I shouldn't have put so much work into beans tonight/today. That was never an issue previously. I guess I was expecting a much more laid back environment. To run into hiccups just getting seeds, you can imagine my dismay.

I completely agree. It definitely shouldn't be such an ordeal to buy some seeds.

Best of luck finding what you're after.

I used a bank debit card(Mastercard) with Seedsman to get an order of Fastbuds- Just had to call bank and ok the international transaction- and they would only ok it for 2 months, then I need to call again.
