Why are my seedlings falling down?

I've had these seedlings for a bit over a week, and thought they were looking well with healthy progression. 8 liitle girls, all with stems 4-6 inches. Today I came back from a day out and a few of them have got a slouch going, with the four leaf head facing up but close to the soil.

What might this be a result of? Is my cfl light fixture too close? too much water? ph off? I thought light was at a good height and the watering sparse enough. Any help from the pros? Are they lost or salvageable? Really looking to make something happen with my first grow here. Thanks for any guidance.
    peace.

post pictures and you'll get more replys. how far away are you cfls from your plants? they should be inches away. you might be overwatering, let the pot get dry before you water it again and if you have nuts it could be overdoing that too.

how close is the light? When your light is too far away it will make your stem stretch, and sometimes so much that it becomes weak and falles over. might need to get the light closer, and a fan blowing on the stems helps make em stronger too.

Can you get pics on here?

4-6 inch stem? get that lighter closer man.. thats why your plants are doing that... your set shouldnt be more than an inch spacing between stem and leaf.. or leaf to soil. anything longer is kind of stretched due to light being far away.

are these babies not worth going forward with then?
time for a new batch of seeds or go ahead and see what happens with these laid-back first-timers?

See if you can save man. Get a fan on them and feed em nutes. The fan sounds crazy but when it blows on the plant and bends the stem it rips the muscles and they grow stronger this way. Just like a muscle, workin out makes you stronger right?

If they are seedlings then they are far too young for nutes still. Just slap those CFL's within a couple inches, add a fan to thicken up those stems, and you should be able to save them.

If necesarry you can use a VERY dilluted salution for nutes this early. but its up to you.

4-6 inches is way to long for a seedling... If you just berely touch the pland head and the stem does not feel springy... Like it is getting hard enough to support the tops do two a few things...

Get lights closer to prevent further stretching...

Try to support the weak seedling stems somehow... More soil... Straws, sticks ect...

Get a fan blowing on them to help strengthen the stems... Either a very soft pc fan or an oscillating fan so as not to stress them and blow them over... The leaves and stem should just wobble a little bit at this stage... You dont want the leaves blowing wildly... And after you have supported the stems of course... 1-2 inches of stem above soil is more then enough... Some people like to cover the stem right up to the first set of leaves...

Good luck... Save you children if possible... =]

    HI

I have 3 plants growing in my closet. I have the walls covered by aluminum foil and i use one 50 watt light i got from home depot made for growing plants. I have a fan in there and i keep the temp about 78 degrees. It is about 1'6" by 1'8".

So the seedlings are 13 days old and 4 inches tall and they just fell over. What should i do! :(

Any help is appreciated and any comments on how to make anything better.

    Thankyou

um crystal haze they probably are getting not enough light, or not enough oxygen, and i suggest that you should stick to the cfl's, or metal halide and hps.

Oxygen? Plants use co2? Unless you talking about the roots, but i don't think that is the cause of his weak seedlings.

Get more lights. I've got two plants growing in a Waterfarm and I'm presently using 210w of CFL in a 2' x 2' space. My seedlings are 13 days old, a little under 3 inches tall, and presently working on their third node.

The more light you can give your plants the happier and healthier they will be.
