who is using non-coco specific nutes?

Sure I could spend hours looking up this answer and sorta did already but just wanted to chat with someone using regular nutes right now.... what is your regime, what coc prep did you do? how much cal-mag if any do you use? pH of nutew solution, do you test run-off or the coco itself, blah blah blah....

a...and this quote sums up why I started a specific topic
I have converted two rooms to coco so far. Going perpetual. Just using base nutes and calmag.

I'm curious what PPMs people are running with their coco grows? Im running pretty low for flowering, 600 PPM - 650 PPM. 100 - 150 PPMs of this is calmag. Only about 500 PPM are flowering nutes. They look just like hydroponically grown plants. Very glowing green. Greener and glowier than with straight hydro. Im using beneficials which I have resisted for ages, along with synthetic nutrients.

My PH is going in at about 5.8. I haven't tested the runoff to see what it's coming out at.

Would be nice to see some standardized PH, PPM ratios, etc. for coco growing. All the information Im finding online is all over the map.

Hey,,
im not using coco nutes. On my first run with coco and as far as i can tell they are happy as hell. Roots go crazy in coco.

im using canna aqua vega, rhizo, cannazym, and to begin with i was using Cal-pow as a ca and mg supplement. I have very soft water as is so was defo needed. I am now using Cal-Max liquid at half the bottle dose and they doing great.
and now im in flower and just intend to either stick with the aqua vega and add pk13/14 slowly working up to full dose, and may risk using this aqua flores, but im sure its 4-4-11 and that would seem far to much K for coco. So we see how it goes ay..

im using bio nova coco blocks and they are good, however, its a very fine pith, so perlite seems good to add. Also there isnt much diff between the pure coco and the perlite cocos i have on the go. Coco just goes further with the perlite.
The big thing that i am sure of is that Bio Nova coco blocks come WITH fungas gnats,,
the proof being every time i fluff up a block and then wash it(a must with this coco) and pot up the next day theres a fungas gnat in the stick traps. Wash cheap, alot cheaper, than say canna coco.
to wash the coco i just wash in shower in a bucket with holes and pillow case, then add either the cal-pow at 2g/4lt or cal-max at 5ml/10lt. Gives me an e.c. of 0.2-0.3. Thats my base/charge, then i water them in the pot with the full fert line.

loving the coco though. Wish i had tried it sooner..

take it easy.

Forgot to say, im setting the ph of my feed at 5.6-5.7, and as it sits in the bucket over 2 days it will go up to maybe 5.9-6.0, so if its above 6.2 i will knock it back down. Im hand watering and mixing up 10lt storage buckets as a res. in smaller pots they weretaking maybe a half lt to get runoff ,
and now in 11lt pots fill to brim they take just over a lt to get runoff, that if i water every day, but im waiting for roots to grow into the big pots so they being fed every 48hrs,
however, lastnight i saw my runoff was actually up, where as normally it drops by about 0.2e.c., so i think i will increase the amount of waterings to ever day and see if it was just a build up from not water for 2 days..
as i say first coco grow so not super advanced, but grow hydro and soil so this seems abit too easy.

I'm using kelp4less grow mix in regular coco with ro water. no rinse, no pre buffer, no cal mag, np. switching to jack's hydro soon, which is basically the same thing but without the organic bs.

I went to their site interesting...are they the sole supplier?

im using canna aqua in my coco with no probs i think?
I'm using Canna coco, is the Aqua line basically the same and are you using it because you happen to have it on hand or is there a specific advantage?

the basic reason behind the thread is I recently switched to coco and love the simplicity, but I got a few gallons of base nutes I'd like to not waste and wondering if I could get rid of them w/o any lockout/deficiency issues

part of me is thinking of using my GH 3 part like on every other feed or sumthin,,,

OTOH part of me doesn't want to screw up some really nice plants being cheap/frugal

yeah afaik they mix it up there. It's just got too much unnecessary stuff for me, yucca, mollassis powder... it just kinda dilutes it imo. still, pretty happy with it, it's working well. I switching to jack's hydro tho probably as i think it's a much better deal. I'd like to just mix my own, but not ready to commit to it yet.

Im using it up as i had it sitting around. But i have seen people saying, i havnt tried it so dont know, but the vega seems to have a better profile than the canna coco. Certainly for veg. I would have to look at the bottles to give u npk... In fact.. Just looked its 6-3-8, and with the 0-2-1 of cannazym makes it 6-5-9.

Take it easy...

I have a mother in coco and so far it has gone thru 3 brands of non coco nutes. Everything is just fine. I take about 20 clones a week from her

Wouldn't that only be6-5-9 if you're using it in equal parts? Please advise.

Yeah, Canna aqua a and b, equal parts. O do you mean equal parts zym to aqua? Yeah i get what you mean i think.

I just assume that canna have done the math for me, in that when they say use it at 25ml per 10 lt, im assuming they mean that it will produce a 0-2-1 no matter the amounts. (Also its p2o5 and its only 1.7%{on the bottle} so thats what, about 43% of that is actual P, actually as i type i dont know where im going with this. )
so yeah, maybe just ignore the 0-2-1 as its more like 0-1-1, its k2o so thats 83% of 1,

sorry im no help, shouldnt of smoked that fatty as im proper confused now..

lol, its all good! Its just entire NPK thing is hard for me to understand. cheers
Haha, aye, tell me about it.

Im only just gettin my head around it all, and using hydrobuddy is helping. Still along way to go..

if your interested in some reading try the cannastats webpage...http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fourtwenty/index.html

anyhow take it easy.,.

(esit.. Yeah, forgot to say with the zym and aqua im also adding Cal max so thats another 2-0-0 to add on.)

update, as I look at my plants I'm seeing they look horribly underfed...
at 1st I saw brt tips, then backed off to about 600ish but as I look at em, maybe that was a lil light....

right now its been a week at 1100 (160 Cal-mag + r/o water @140ish; yeah I need a new DI cartridge)
...plants still look a lil whimpy...
---although I'm not 1000% sure if its not this cheapo MH light or the nutes....gheez I hate chasing problems

bumping this for a update....
I'm giving up on Canna Coco 2pt and going h3ads Lucas...freakin plants simply look stunted ...
I'm gonna chg out my R/O cuz water was like 200-300 ppm AFTER R/o ing it.... so maybe a lockout of some type....

I use David's grow simply path plus root roids and cal mag, 2 tbsp per gal on cal mag, ph 5.8, no issues to speak of, first grow in coco, thus far I have 2 plants flowering and 5 more females ready.

I've been using non-coco specific nutes since the day coco came out. I wasn't aware yet of the
calcium and the potassium issues like we all know now, and well, i'm STILL using non-specific! Currently using CNS-17 regular. I've ran some side by sides, with a few made for coco formulas vs. non-specific and no difference to me.(including both CNS-17 formulas)
Make sure you have cal-mag, as that has been the only difference to me using regular nutes, growing in coco vs. other hydro methods.

I use dutch master grow and flower 2 part and their add .27
I feed pk 13/14 for one week. Im going to add canna boost and see how I like it.

Supplement with cal mag at 16ml/5gal and bump it up to around 18-20ml/5gal during flower, we have really great (.14ec) tap water.

I use batch 64 coco blend and have used slacker and royal gold. I used the DM line up when I was rdwc.
