So the build is over and it's time to start goring something. Going to do 3 White Russian from regular seed and try 1 plant from fem seed, of a strain to be named later (Have Barney's Farm Acapulco Gold in mind, after I heard how finicky Tangerine Dream is). So if you have any experience with Acapulco Gold I'd like to hear from you.

Anyway, just getting started so no porn yet, aside from the build. I'll be experiment with LED in this grow, with one WR.

Equipment:
Space is 6.5' X 7.5' X 7'
4" fresh air intake (140 CFM)
4" exhaust (140 CFM) with Can-Lite 4" X 15" charcoal filer (250CFM)
2 X 600-1000 HIDs (Gavita and Lumitek dimmable ballasts)
1 Solar Storm 440 LED
Window A/C unit 5000 BTU

White Russian is my goto strain! Love it, never grew out a regular though. Good luck. Oh and watch the stretch, they get tall lol.
Me too...love the write russian. I'm going to scrog em this time so hoping the stretch works in my favour for that.

And so the journey begins. Day 1 of veg. After germinating 3 Romulan Diesel fem seeds and 8 White Russian regular seeds I planted 5 WR seedlings and 1 RD seedling, which was 1 of 3 supposedly fem seeds that popped. (I killed 2 WRs from manhandling them while they were sprouting in the cubes. Ooops...)

1 WR is under a Solar Storm 440 LED. Hoping it turns out to be a girl, as I'd like to see what the light does from Day 1 Veg all through bloom to harvest. Anyway, a couple o pics....

Well... so much for the WRs... they stalled out completely due to cold root zone temps. So I killed em and tried again... only to stall em and kill em again. What a waste of beans. I just don't do well with the rock wool cubes. So I went back to cups and got a heat mat and started some other beans...

So this thread is now officially BLACK ICE (from HGS) and a couple last Romulan Diesel. Got em all going pretty good. hoping to get 4 girls out of the bunch to scrog.

Day 22. Transplant day. These are the smallest plants I've had at day 22. I hope it's just the strain and not something I'm not doing...lol

Anyway. 2 Romulan diesel and 6 Black Ice are under a 600w HID and 3 Black Ice are under an LED. Let the experiment begin.

And so right on time, around day 35 from seed, five girls show themselves. I thought because they are going so slow and are so small for 35 days that it might be another week or two before signs of gender would show. But no... it always seems to be 35-40 days.

Anyway, I was hoping for 4 girls and got five so far (still hoping a Romulan Diesel will be a girl). It's time to start thinking of transplanting. So I killed one that appeared to be a male and checked the root-ball...and now think it still might be a bit soon.

Whaddya think??

And so the four girls were transplanted. I know I killed at least one girl, but didn't have a light or a pot for her.

Anyway, now on to about 5-6 weeks of vegging to fill up the screens (which will go on tomorrow) up to 60%ish...

So time for an update. All has been well and steady. Temps at 74-80f with the a/c going. With the cold air coming in I've had to keep the HIDs at 750w, which isn't ideal. Expensive. Since I got a humidifier I've got RH up to 35-40% and that's been steady. The pics are at day 55 from start of germination, or day 33 of veg if counting from the day the solo cups were transplanted to 1 gal container... or just day 16 of veg if the count starts at when the four girls were transplanted to their final home in 7 gal containers. Not sure what counts as vegging. Should also mention, the girls have had a couple of severe haircuts and are just gorwing back now...lol

Anyway, I wish I'd been a little more patient. As soon as four girsl showed up I transplanted and killed the rest, when I should've waited a bit to see if more girls showed and then picked the best four. Now I have a runt... But she's healthy.

Also noteworthy is the big difference in pheno's. This Black Ice is supposed to be 80% indica dominant, but one is very very sativa dominant. The runt is very indica dominant while the other two are somewhere in between. I wonder if the seeds were from early in the breeding process??? I mean, wouldn't seeds from several generations after having been originally bred be more consistent???? I dunno....

So it's been a few weeks since the last post. I'm at day 76 from seed and 61 days or so into veg. And they're coming along great. It's hard to tell from the angle of the pics but the main stems are folded right over and lots of bud sites exposed to direct light that otherwise wouldn't be. On the biggest girl, I had to pinch the main stem and almost break it to tuck it under the screen and geeting it to gow laterally. I was worried that I might kill that main stem, but it's come on really strong.

Day 96 and 19 days after flip. The budlets are coming nicely. The runt still has the biggest buds, even bigger than my monster girl. That is a direct result of pruning the big girl right after the flip. She stalled a bit so the budlets are behind. The same thing happened to the one of the LED girls. I trimmed her 8 days after the flip and she stalled a bit too, leaving her with the smallest buds. So, from now on the girls will always get trimmed one last time a couple days before the flip.

Also, seems like the sativa dominant phenos are still stretching....

And lastly, as seen in one of the pics I have a little problem with what I hope are just gnats.

Day 25 flower

So I ended a little experiment. One of the two girls under an LED had a blind blocking cast-off light from the HIDs so I could see how the LED would do alone. Bud production fell way behind the others so I took the blind down (the other girl under and LED, the runt, has been producing really well with the extra cast-off HID light). Hopefully, that poor deprived girl will catch up a little.

And.... anybody know what kind of BUGS have going (see the pic)? They were bothersome a little while ago so I put some sticky strips out and that seemed to get most of them. But now they're back in bigger numbers. Not sure what to do....any help would be appreciated.

Also, at first I thought I had two distinctly different phenos of the same strain. But now I'm wondering if I have different strains going. The two under the HIDs have the sativa thing going, while the other two under the LEDs are distinctly indica.... hard to say. What I do know is that I got the strain (Black Ice) from Highgrade Seeds and it was maybe not stable...or seeds got mixed up???

Anyway, enjoy the pics

Day 35 of flower and NOW they're coming....

But the med girl is still WAY behind. :(

Have to say.... I'm liking the Dutch Master Gold. Seems every bit as good as the AN ... cheaper too....

So....now that tbey are starting to chunk up...i see that indica dominant is loving the temps 73-77ish, while the sativa doms not so much? They appear to be lagging behind a bit...and not as dense...maybe the sativa doms like higher temps?
