white or brown pistil harvesting HELP

Hi all,

I am hoping you guys can provide advice about the following:

I planted late in the season (August) here in N.England. Nevertheless, I got bud on a healthy plant. It has lots of them but they are all small (even the top ones) It is starting to get cold and shorter days but I wonder this:

-Is this because of how late I planted? or can I let it ripe more in hopes of getting bigger bud before frost? (I figure I may have almost a month if lucky)
Would it get bigger? (buds) or no matter the time left I am stuck with what I got?

-The pistils on almost all buds are about 10/20% brown and I would prefer to harvest now because of the cerebral high I am looking for. This is dependant on reply of wether or not I'll get bigger buds by waiting.

Thanks very much.

i bet that u planted too late, if you go buy a 10 dollar microscope you can take a leaf off and look at it, i had some buds hair turn a little brown but they were not ready, look up close and u will be able to tell if it is ready, good luck tho

Any strain will require some minimum number of days in flower to fully mature. The exact number of days can vary somewhat due to various condition but based on every situation there will be a minimum number needed and if you run out of weather the plant(s) can live in then you can only take them early and hope you got something worth your time, effort, expense and risk.

Of course if you do not run out of acceptable weather you can allow the plant(s) to grow beyond their peak harvest time if someone hoped to gain a little weight but it would of course be gain at the loss of THC so that would not be a judicious exchange for one to make.

You said you want more of a sativa high than an indica body stone. Well then as was suggested purchase a small inexpensive, like around $13.00 if purchased online, illuminated mini-scope and look at the color of the plant(s) trichomes and when most are milky-white/cloudy then that is when you want to harvest. If you wait until there are amber trichomes showing up then that means an increased body-stone, mostly clear means that maximum levels of THC have not yet been reached and fully amber means THC has already been lost and more will be lost every moment from then on.

So don’t harvest by pistil color. It is not accurate enough to where you will harvest any time within the peak THC level window of opportunity let alone right when to harvest for an increased head high or an increased body stone or whatever someone prefers.

Harvest by trichome color only.

Hey thanks for your replies.

However, I am still in doubt as whether I can let the plant grow a little bit longer in hopes of increased bud size??? I actually tasted a bud (I quick dried it) and even though the high was not very potent (curing?) it gave me the high I am looking for (I was searching Wikepedia, from link to link like a Harvard professor!!) and even some pronounced munchies.

Anybody?

thanks.
