I also thought that most of the pistils were supposed to turn brown/orange as well... Most of them are white.

Everything I've ever read says amber tricombs mean the THC is degrading so when I see amber tricombs I harvest. It gives a nice buzz I think. Although I've had nice Indicas that went about 30% amber and they were always the most connoisseur type smokes (to me always)

More white pistils are turning brown/orange... Took another snippet from plant to check and only found one amber trich, getting there, but doesn't seem quite ready to start a flush.

I'm shooting for about 50% amber 50% cloudy... Isn't it the more amber the more of a couch lock effect?

the more amber the more couch stoned effect... thats my shit...lol so i always pull at about 50 50.

Just checked again and on this snippet I found NO amber... Cloudy and Clear, that's it... Which is fine by me, I'm hoping these buds fatten up some... 14th week of growing, 8th week of flowering...

My last grow i only flushed for 5 days and in that period i flushed on day one angain on day 3 then left to dry out for 2 days before harvers. The smoke tasted beautiful and not harsh in anyway. Id also used a pretty heavy nute called bloombastic but all was good. Never tried not flushing but this time round gunna not flush a plant and see if i can taste any difference or its just hear say. No better way than testing for yourself! Also the pistels on ur crop will change colour a lot when they have been chopped and dried so dnt rely to much on there appearance. Judge by the trichs. The cloudier the better is my opinion.

by the looks of the last pic you still have at least 3 weeks left. Barely any of the hairs have turned red yet, very little amber trichs and the buds still look under developed. You will see tons of "fattening" up in the next 3 weeks. If you pull them early you will get a short head high and nothing more. Patience is a virtue. All that time it takes to grow dont get the harvest date wrong or you will surely regret it! Btw they look very nice for cfl's!

Oh, I'm in no rush... If it takes 3 weeks, so be it... Last snippet I took had no amber trichs, a 50 50 mix of clear and cloudy so I figured i was at least 1-2 weeks away.

id chop now unless you want a more body stone/couch lock high. thc is at it peak when trichome heads are fully formed and still clear.

Yea... not sure where you read that because literally every source I pull up says clear is when it is NOT at peak... peak is cloudy/amber... too much amber i believe means it's degrading thc quality...

it was scientifically proven. clear = peak thc / cloudy = degrading thc / amber = cbn

Quoted from High Times March 2011 issue from the article “Trichome Tech Inside the Resin Factory”

"For years, K would harvest once the resin heads began turning from opaque to amber, but he’s recently rethought his timing thanks to a study by Dr. Paul G. Mahlberg who found that the THC in a resin head is at its peak when it’s still clear – not opaque and certainly not amber. Dr. Mahlberg stuck a tiny syringe into the bulbous head of the trichome and extracted its contents, then analyzed it for THC. The result, without a doubt, THC is at its highest before the trichome turns opaque. This makes sense when you think about it: Who harvests fruit when it’s turning brown?…..K now harvests at the first sign of opaque trichomes, when the majority on the plant are still clear."

i pull my buds according to this and have had amazing results. as close to 100% fully formed clear trichomes. when they start to go cloudy they come down. usually a week sooner and there is usually very little couch lock.

This is only relative if he wants a head high.

If you want a head high do it like this guy said. If you want a couch lock let them turn 30%-50% amber then pull. I THINK! dont quote me on this and if anyone sees anything wrong with what I said, feel free to comment.

i do not only get a head high. it is definitely more cerebral but i still got couch lock from my heavy indica plants. thc is not the only chemical that creates these effects but thc is at its peak before the gland head turns opaque.

what you say is true though, more amber the more couch lock.

My only thing with that is... as soon as the trichs show up they are clear are they not? So how would that be a basis of when to harvest?

Anyways, thought I would post updated pics for anybody to give their opinion on...

Why don't you harvest a tiny amount of bud now and the rest later? Smoke them both and report back on any differences in the high. I'd like to know the results. You will also have a better idea for your next grow when to harvest.
