im newbie as well...but i read a book called "Marijuana Horticulture Medical grower s bible" by jorge cervantes, (you can learn a lot from that amazed book) you should start photoperiod 12/12 to show the flower with white hair...right now im growing three plants (five weeks old) only two (unknown strain) plants are showing white hairs without induce flower....so hope this will help you :)

hello everyone i could use so help. i have this healthy plant growing indoors. its generally small and im usually a very weak cfl light (only one sadly). now my plant has grown some pistiils so i know that it is a female plant. now im wondering if its possible that i can keep it from flowering at this stage. im giving it 17.5/18 hrs of light per day, watering when needed. im not using any nutrients/advanced nutrients, just letting it grow naturally (im just being cheap about it, investing basically no money into it). Basically Im experimenting with this plant learning as I go. its my second grow and i admit i dont know everything but some basics. So can I keep it in vegetation even though the pistils have come in? please let me know. thank you

Yes you can keep it in veg. Its possible to flower to determine the sex, remove the males, and then switch back to 6500k 18/6 light schedule.
As for gecko, flower asap. Go right into 12/12 when first set of leaves show. If your gfs parents are very anal, you might want to reconsider growing indoors. It can get very stinky. My closet smells like a skunk sprayed and im only 3 weeks into flowering

I gether that when you say induce flowering you refer to changing the lights to 12/12 for flowering. Instead of following some arbitrary
guide that can't possibly be right (all strains mature at different speeds), let your plant tell you when it is ready to flower.

If you leave a pot plant at 18/6 or 20/4 forever it will start to flower on it's own without a light switch. Indicas will generally start showing
sex around 4 weeks in dirt with sats slower. When you start to see a small football-shaped growth at the crotch with 2 small wispy hairs growing
out of it, you know she is showing female sexual characteristics. I watch my ladies as they veg and note when they exhibit the small female growths, or buds.
Then I let them veg another 10 days or so as I chart her daily growth in inches. By week 5 in dirt most of my plants are in the 32-38 inch range and growing
an inch a day. So, after a week or 2 of showing sex I switch them to 12/12 to flower. I believe I am being as efficient as possible by timing my light switch to
match the natural growing cycle of the plant.

Good luck, BigSteve.

yeah i could raise the light i was planning on it. i ussually have too offen. and i was looking into what would be best suitible for reflective and most cost efficient i know itll help !

I and a lot of people on here like Reflectix from Lowe's Hardware. It's cheap and easy to use. Good for keeping temps too ;)
When you flower expect your plant to double in size if not more also. I'm sure I saw that on a post earlier but maybe not this thread...idk.

I got a 400 watt hps my plants are about 14 inches ima switch to flower in 4 days im just waiting for my lil skywalker to catch up it got nute burned from vermafire soil :/ im not gunna use it agian but im glad I saw u guys post a 400 watt onlt penetrates 36 inches great to know !!

Ive tried all types of methods. For me i seem to get the best results when i wait to see a preflower. This takes patience, and most people dont want to wait that long.

From what I understand you do need at-least 3-4 nodes prior to flowering, after that the determining factor is what light you are using. If you have as I do a 400 watt system, you want to flower at about 12" because the plant will than grow to about 36" which is the most penetration you'll get from a 400 watt light.
I am using a 600 watt setup with a dimmable ballast from vivoson I was gonna flower when they were about 15-18 inches cuz I have a 36x36x72 space ..Do u think I'll be ok

Urban Grower, vegitates to 24" and get 4-6 oz. per plant.
Soooo if i have 1 plant under 1000w ill only get 6 oz per plant. 1 plant under a 25t cfl i can get up to 6 oz!
Bs. Yeald is based on light space and tallent. No whare in that equasion is plant count.
