when to clone

i started off about 3 weeks ago with 8 germinated seeds figuring a couple would die and i would get a half male half female ratio. since then two have died and i have 6 left, my babies are all about 3-5 inches tall, and i wanted to clone them to figure out how many were females and which ones to get rid of, is it too soon to do this? is there a minimum height to clone? ive watched so many videos and read so many threads but am still at a loss to this key question. all i want is a quality mother plant or two for some homegrown dank.

well id say a month but that would be me growing it in my grow room. As for you, whenever there's enough plant to rip some clones or just a single clone. You dont give enough info for me to give you a time frame.

I like them at 6-8 inches long, hope this helps. though you can do smaller i wouldn't go much smaller. Give them time and they will grow.

thanks, i think i will give em another few days to get to the 6-8 inch range, its my first grow and just want to 2 mother plants that i can constantly clone off of giving me some solid dank every month or so, so i dont need to keep buying

I've had 3 batches of various types so far and I have a Hell of a time trying to determine sex via pre-flowers. You more experienced guys might have that down, but us newer guys can't tell til we see pistils or stamen.

How cant ya tell? I mean sometimes its hard but most of the time its rather clear. Sometimes they fool ya and ya end up with a male ya thought was feamale.

i still havnt touched them as far as clones go. they are in 3.5 gallon buckets with a 20/4 ratio and i water them every monday and friday 3 cups of water per plant (is that enough i have read alot about over watering but kinda feel like 3-6 cups a week isnt really enough) i give them fertilizer every 2 weeks and thinking about taking a clone later on this week, now that they are up to 6 inches, and will probably be around 8-9 by then. Where should the cutting be from? ive read alot of post say from the bottom but there is still a good amount that say from the top. Do i want one with one set of big fan leaves or one with smaller leaves and a weaker stem? thanks
