When to add water to bucket for seedlings???

My seedlings are 3 days old now. I have them in rapid rooters surrounded my hydroton in my 5 gallon buckets. I've been manually added water the last few days. I'm not sure if i should add water to the buckets yet.

My main concern is i'm not sure how much water to feed as of right now. I'm giving them less than an ounce of water but not sure if the water is penetrating down the rapid rooters enough for the roots???

Should i go ahead and add water to the buckets??? If so, should i add the water an inch above the bottom of the hydroton then slowly drop it in inch under the hydroton as they grow???

If you can't afford a dripper I would hand water them until the roots are long enough to dangle into the water. Your buckets should allow easy access to check to see if the roots are long enough, or if they are wet after you water. If you are worried they might dry out before you can attend to them, you can fill the buckets to an inch below the pots (or where you estimate the roots to be). As long as you have enough bubbles in the water they should burst and keep the pot and hydroton wet. You could also put the water level even or a little past the bottom of the pots, but in my experience, when the roots are first establishing, it is better to keep them wet but not submerged.

Fill the buckets to the bottom of the net containers. I mean it can touch the hydroton it will keep it wet enough for the roots to seek out the water and in a few days your roots will be in the water then lower the water an inch below the pots. I hope this helps. Oh I have the same setup you do by the way. I really like this setup good choice. And good luck with your grow.
