When do plants start to give off an odor?

I have a small mothering box that is not odor controlled but only has lighting and tomorow im installing a small pc fan. The fan will vent out of the box that is in my closet, but before i dump the air into my closet, i want to know if the mothers will stink or not. So do plants only start to give off an odor when they go into flowering or do they just start to stink in growth and from then on out?

the main stalks produce odor my veg room smells like weed... and in there i use a homemade yeast and suger Co2 generator and it seems to enhance the odor... but the smell really became apparent around 3 weeks

lol fuck i just put in that same exact yeast Co2 bottle. If i had the cab in my closet and had a 5' hole on the side of it, do you think the smell would make its way outa the closet? is it a real strong smell that will carry?

it all depends on the plants.... about four plants made my entire house smell like fresh bud... i just never noticed it until after i had been away for a little while

damn thats some unfortunate news. Is there anything cheap and small i can attach to my exhaust hole besides a fat scrubber? maybe a little DIY carbon filter thats pretty small, cause my cab isnt very big and i need all the room i can get for my mothers

yeah man my plants STINK in veg. cant wait for flowering.

I had some random clone and white rhino grow so far, and both barely smelled during veg. The clone really didnt give off much smell, it was really fresh smelling, almost like citrus. As for the rhino about 3 weeks in to flowering is when I started to smell it a little but only up close. by week 4 or 5. I could smell it but it was only when I opened the cab becuase of the carbon scrubber on my case.

It really all depends on the strain though. build a carbon scrubber, they are easy and dont take that much time.

it also varies greatly from strain to strain.. some stink to high heaven from like the first week, others dont put off much of a smell through the whole grow, just depends.... i am only growing one plant, 2days into flower... its only about 18inches tall, and outside but you can smell her from like 15ft away

First plant smelled the for a few weeks in veg, then never after that. Not even in flowering. Other seeds from that strain didn't smell at all.

well sometimes plants give off a lot of smell right away, and sometimes they barely give off any smell till you harvest

Mistaphunk, look in the growfaq, its labeled 'making co2 from yeast' or something very similar to that

Al ot of Indica stinks more in VEg than it does in FLOWER. I 've heard the stink, like a skunk and like cat shit, is like farts from the consuming of NITROGEN. After you start 12/12 and the BLOOM stage, they need and eat les nitrogen and they can stink less.
