Wheeelman does Super Soil

What up everybody...this will be my first grow log and my 3rd indoor run. My previous runs include Raskal's White Fire from seed (DWC), C99 and Purple Diesel from clone (Coco). As you can see I've been trying out different methods. So far each has been interesting but I'm having the best success with Super Soil so far.

I cooked up Super Soil back in February and it is Sub's original recipe half the volume with with some additions at a low strength. Those additions are Kelp, Crab Meal, langbeinite, and karanja seed meal. The base was Roots, the light was a local organic soil, coco, and earth worm castings.

Now to the grow. I started 5 Ace of Spades back in February. They got their start in a roots organic, cut with earth worm castings and the local organic base. Labeled 1-5 based on when they popped and vigor. #5 was a dude lucky for me, I'm thinking based on his structure he is either full on BCS pheno or at a minimum BCS leaning. I'll be hitting my WIFI keepers with his pollen, more to come on that!

They were put in pots Feb 26 and April 2 they were put in the number 7 pots with about a 50% super soil base so they are about 8 weeks and a few days from seed. They've been topped twice giving me four main colas and if you count the lowest node shoots that makes six. A note about the final transplant, Sub spoke of the Down To Earth Soil they'd start using so I tracked down DTE soil locally. They didn't have the Pro Organic Mix but they did have another soil called "All Natural Potting Soil"...after comparing ingredients they seem very similar, seemingly only missing dolomite but I have not called to verify the total difference. That said, I used this to fill the sides and top after transplant. You can see the soil bag in the pic before I transplanted. Also, my side kick...this dude rolls in the soil, it's almost like catnip it seems.

Now to the girls! I'm just going to jump straight to pics from this morning. They had there last dose of 18/6...they will be getting 12/12 from here on out. I'm hoping to hit 4oz a plant dreaming for 5-6ozs. They are lst'd to be sprawled out and from soil to tip the larger girls are around 18".

AOS #1 - Lots of side branching and probably tallest. Showed a bit of nute sensitivity, no burn but a bit of nitrogen excess.
IMG_6974.jpgIMG_6971.jpgIMG_6973.jpg

AOS #2 - Short, fat stems, minimal side branching.
IMG_6977.jpgIMG_6979.jpgIMG_6978.jpgIMG_6980.jpg

AOS #3 - Almost exactly like #1 but the stems seem a little more hearty. Showed same nute sensitivity.
IMG_6984.jpgIMG_6983.jpgIMG_6985.jpg

AOS #4 - The Runt...seems like a middle ground between #1 and #2

AOS #5 - The Dude

That's all for now...I'll probably do a weekly update! Next time you see them they will have had their first week of stretch! Let me know what you think and if you think my weight expectation is reasonable!

Thanks!

Thanks venom...I'm anxious to see if langbeinite helps with the weight and density although I don't really have a base line to go off of. Just got home with a fresh Hortilux bulb also and some spinosad to take care of those damn thrips. They aren't that bad and they seem to die within hours of flying around the room for the most part but they are leaching my leaves a little I think.

The Ace will be one side of the room under 600w and I'll have a NFT scrog on the other under a 600w. The focus is on the Super Soil though and the TGA Genetics.

with all this stuff in the soil, how does this act on flushing?? or, since its not chemcals per se, its not a prob? i just use gardener&bloom, and have had very good results. see my album. i add only a handfull of dolomite, and epsom.

Well everyone...sorry i got so busy I haven't updated like I planned! New job, garden, etc!!! If a moderator could either open up my reserve posts or delete them it'd be much appreciated! Without further ado...the garden! I don't really have the room to take my plants out and take isolated shots under normal light so these will have to do until harvest. The photos are from 5-23-2012 so they are even better looking now. Also, all shots were taking by my iphone but the final pics I will take with my canon t2i so thy wil be much nicer!

By now most of the visual growth traits and smells have been expressed and I have a good idea how each plant will finish. I'll give a brief summary of each and a few shots!

Group Shot! The order looking straight on:
A1-A4
A2-A3

Another that's about a week ago from left:
IMG_0552.jpg

Ace #1
: Smells almost exactly like #2 & #4 but has a more JTR growth structure. The smell is hard to describe, very sweet and fruity berry with no lemons or pine that JTR has It looks almost identical to #3 with a little less resin. Very vigorous and the nodal growth is a bit better than #3.
IMG_0602.jpgIMG_0603.jpg

Ace #2: As I said before I'm almost certain this is the BCS pheno from the smell and short growth structure. No color yet but my temps are running high 70's day and low 70's night and I did go a bit heavy on the Super Soil for this first run so who knows if I'll get any color this run, I'll see how each fades and adjust SS for the next run. The resin on this girl is packing on nicely and looks to be growing nice and compact colas!!! 99% sure she will be a keeper.
IMG_0607.jpgIMG_0608.jpgIMG_0609.jpgIMG_0590.jpg

Ace #3: At first I was impressed by this one as it caught up to #1 but the growth node growth is a bit more stretched than #1. As this is almost identical to #1 the positives...more resin so far and a lemon-piney smell so this is probably more completely JTR than number #1, and the negatives as I stated the nodes are a bit more strecthed and the yield might be a bit lower. Final smoke report will determine which of #1 or #3 will be tossed.
IMG_0610.jpgIMG_0611.jpg

Ace #4: "The Runt" Last but certainly not least I dubbed this girl the runt since she lagged behind so much but she is certainly shining now and has caught up nicely. She is still looking like the middle ground between #1 and #2. She has the same sweet berry smell, heavy on the resin like #2 and in between #1 and #2 in size. She is gunning for the yield winner also. One of the colas produced a double top!!!! Just a gorgeous plant! EDIT*-Damn...my dumb ass didn't get a whole plant shot so I'll have to give just a few segment shots. In the lower middle area of the first shot you can see the double top cola!

Hope you all enjoy and thanks for dropping by!
